I came across this on Instagram and just wanted to share with you. Hopefully you do research on the preloved bag you’re planning to buy next and have it properly authenticated by a professional. Zeko stated that she won’t authenticate any microchip bags via pictures. These new bags will need to be sent to her to check in person. This is scary!

OH.....MY.....GOODNESS....great warning- thank you!

I was reading up something on the web and came across a Reddit forum dedicated to replicas. There’s a world of replica makers out there. Who knew! The forum members even show comparisons between their authentic bags vs their replicas. The details on the superior replicas are mind boggling. I won’t be able to tell even if one is sitting besides my own bags. I’d suggest being super careful when buying outside of the boutiques.

I guess I would never know either, I see so many fake bags on Poshmark that are so fake... but I would have no clue about superfake chanel bag... who are the sellers ? I guess with the advanced technology they can take duplicate them pretty close.

The Reddit Replica forum is mind blowing and honestly has made me think twice about buying secondhand anything... even clothing!

I was also just thinking more about this... so, prior to my heart bag, the last Chanel bag was a CF that my husband bought over the phone from my SA at Saks -- the chip was never "properly" registered since he ordered it remotely and in 2021, the chip/registering bags was still new (I think I read that some other folks on this forum didn't get their bags formally registered in mid-2021 too)... vs. my heart bag was properly registered/I got an email from Chanel about warranty details after the SA had me scan a QR code and fill out the form on my phone.

So, I guess my question is, what happens now re: authentication? The bag seller also has to forward the login information to their ChanelEtMoi profile to verify that it is authentic/pass on the warranty to the resale website (or whoever is buying)? :hrmm: :confused1:

They even have replica jewelry for Chanel, Hermes, VCA, etc. made with real gold and diamonds. This scares me off from buying in the resale market. Would authenticators at Fashionphile, TheRealReal, etc. be able to tell replicas from authentic for some items?

I saw that forum but how do we know what they are comparing.

The Rep (as they call it) could be a photo of a real bag or shoe and the customer gets sent a bad fake that they obviously didn't picture.

I got a scam vibe from that forum...

People really overestimate craftmanship that it takes to create luxury goods. Good marketing on tue part of the luxury companies. But they are still made by people in a mechanical fashion. And talents are evenly distributed around the globe and people everywhere have been working with leather for centuries, not only italians etc. The ability to learn and mimic is how humankind have evolved to the top of the foodchain.
I really don't understand how people disbelief the fact that others can copy 100% correctly. Even paintings have been forged and for that there are numerous factors like the ink, canvas etc to be forged. Forging a bag, which essentially is a mostly mechanical skill that with enough practice you can master quickly, when the same input as authentic (leather, thread etc) are plentiful to buy, is very easy.

Probably not, honestly! They are SO dang good, like I don't think TRR's copywriters could all be expert authenticators tbh.

Hmm, from what I've seen (some folks link back to my website for, like, the authentic pair of shoes so I always peek when I notice that my blog is mentioned in r/reps), the posters also submit what they actually got. I feel like redditors don't really want to fool other redditors, so they post the actual item they receive...
