Best way to 'detax' after H in Europe

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all the information! I have been trying to piece everything together and I have a few questions:

- So it seems Chanel, Dior, and some other brands use Premier Tax to process VAT refunds. Hermes uses Global Blue. Despite this, it seems all of the forms issues look the same with the Pablo logo and all can be processed as the Pablo kiosks. Is that correct?

- For Hermes specifically, if the Pablo kiosk scan is successful (Green ok sign), do you still need to submit forms somewhere? From my understanding based on the Pablo informational websites, as long as your CC information has been inputted by the store that generated the form, there doesn't seem to be a need to submit forms afterwards. If you still need to submit it, is that an Hermes specific thing?

General Global Blue VAT Refund Process Questions:
- Global Blue cites Travelex as a Partner Refund Point inside CDG. After getting the forms validated at the Pablo kiosk, can you go here and request a CC refund immediately?

Apologies for any confusion in the questions. Thank you!

I was told it best to get the cash refund right away at the airport as opposed to waiting for it to be refunded on your credit card because sometimes you don't get the full refund back. Anyone have the similar experience?

Pablo is the service provided by the French government to automate the custom stamping process. This is why all forms use the Pablo scan. If Pablo is down, or if it rejects your form, then you see a live agent.

For credit card refunds, after you scan using Pablo there is a box where you deposit the envelope with the information the merchant gave you. Most vendors give you a copy for your records and a copy plus envelope to deposit in the box. There are no immediate credit card refunds.

Cash refunds (not Hermes) you do the Pablo scan and if approved go to Travelex window to get your cash back.

Very informative, thanks. Added, Travelex behind Tax Refund area handles cash refund in non euro currencies where you have to prepared mentally for the "ugly" exchange rate. If you prefer to have euro cash back, there is also Travelex after custom check in, hope these help

I scanned and mailed out my Global Blue tax refund forms at CDG Terminal 1 on 02/17 and received my refund credited to my CC on 03/07.

As an aside, I purchased a luggage in France at a small boutique that did not use Global Blue. Still waiting for that one.

Hi i have a question.

How early should i be at the airport to settle my detax for both cash and credit?

My flight is at 230 in the afternoon.

Thank you!

Things can move so slowly sometime at cdg. Not the detaxe but the flight check in even to drop a bag if you printed your boarding passes ahead of time. I don't like to be stressed and the paperwork gets confusing. I usually have a 4:30 flight. I leave my hotel at 12. I find that gives me a reasonable amount of time to do the detax, check in, have lunch and check out the Hermes duty free. The detaxe only takes about 30 minutes or so but its all the rest that can be slow. And I know exactly where I'm going when I get there. I almost missed my flight once due to traffic and slow check in.

I agree. Check in, security, and customs is ridiculously slow. The detax took me only about 5 minutes in December. But everything else was almost 3 hours. When I finally got through they were boarding my group. I didn't get a chance to do any duty free shopping. It was quite stressful and annoying.
