Best way to clean Patent leather?

Catfire, I have a pen mark on my patent bag, also, and I have tried just about everything to no avail. If anyone else has any ideas about pen marks let me know. I also have a RED pen mark from the outlet on my camel shoulder!! Yikes,,,didn't even see it till I got home. I'll have to do a search on how to get THAT out, if it's even possible.

I'm glad you asked this question, I was wondering the same thing. I just got my first patent leather bag, and I noticed that I got a tiny pen mark on the back bottom of my bag. You can barely see it, but I know it's there and it's bugging me. Would a shout wipe be okay to use?

The same thing happened to my pond patent ergo hobo. I was so frustrated, but then I read somewhere to try rubbing alcohol and it took it right off!

Hope this helps!

There was a thread somewhere that mentioned using tape (cellophane type tape I would imagine) to 'lift' the ink off of the leather.
Press down on ink mark, lift and repeat until gone...

Sorry but I cant remember who had posted about it or what thread topic it was written in...

I have used the clear packing tape to get price sticker residue off of things. (Sticky attracts and pulls off sticky!)

I would be leary of rubbing alcohol because IMO there could potentially be color damage. I would test it in an inconspicuous spot first (maybe a leather seam inside of the bag) for colorfastness.

Lots of peeps here have had luck with Mr Clean magic erasers too.
I would pre-test that out somewhere not visible first as well.
There is a warning on the box not to use the magic erasers on painted surfaces so not sure how it would affect leather.

Let us know what works safely OK?

I am sick to my stomach :(

I went to Taco Bell for lunch today… My beautiful bag was on my passenger seat, and when I was handed the bag with my food in it, I set it on the seat in front of my bag.

Now I'm seeing that part of the color from the food bag has transferred onto my brand new purse :(

I've tried water and it's not helping… It doesn't look like it's "set in" yet… But damn that happened in less than 10 minutes!!!! I am so disappointed because I absolutely love this bag and now it's ruined. :(

^^ This was a patent bag????

Yes, it's a patent gallery tote.

BUT, I tried the "tape" trick, AND IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wlae::wlae::wlae:

:sweatdrop::sweatdrop:

OT, but your gallery tote is gorgeous! I have been carrying my burgundy one since I got it. Isn't it a comfy bag? I am sooo relieved that you got the color off! :sweatdrop:

thanks pixie! i absolutely LOVE IT! and the burgundy one was soooo tempting!! i wanted something to match the skull fob and my cherry charm too...so i chose the black. it's very comfy but i'm having trouble getting used to the noise the rings make and how heavy they are...but i will adjust

We are bag twins!
I bought that exact bag and skull fob just the other day!
I posted about the 'jinglyness' too in another thread hahaha....
(Almost got the red/burgundy one as well but thought two of the same would have been excessive):confused1:

I am sooooo relieved that you got the color transfer off with the tape .......
I was literally heartsick reading your post..... I would be beyond upset if
that had happened with me and my new bag.

That is why I  this forum. Help usually is just a few short keystrokes away.
