Of course they do. But if you buy secondhand vintage, that may not be an option. So for people who do want to use conditioner to take care of their purse, it’s nice to crowdsource and find out what has worked for others. The Chanel boutiques tell you to NOT use any product, and just go back to them when you want to refresh the bag
Update: the purse still looks and feels awesome. I am a huge fan of how it turned out. I’m thinking it will only need a refresh once in a blue moon. Huge fan!View attachment 6116907
So I just bought the saphir renovating cream. I used a super soft microfiber towel and out a very thin layer of the cream on it. I let it sit for like 5 minutes and then I “buffed” it with a clean microfiber towel. I love love love how it turned out! It smells really good, too. I highly recommend it!
Yes, I’ve used Cadillac on burgundy lambskin without any issues. Here are before and after pics (the lighting is quite a bit different but you can get the idea):Hi friends. Has any of you tried to condition a Chanel lambskin bag in any color apart from black. I have one Chanel bag in caviar and I have never used any conditioner because it still looks perfect. But it’s black, so I think that when I’ll eventually use a conditioner it will be fine.
BUT, I got a vintage lambskin one in burgundy and I would like to condition it but I am scared. The leather looks so delicate that I even left a mark on it with my nose (and the natural oils that my skin may have) when smelling it.
Do you think that Sapphire or Cadillac moisturisers will work on this leather and color too?
* You can see the dark spot I stamped with my nose on the right bottom corner 🥴
Thank you so much!! It looked gorgeous.Yes, I’ve used Cadillac on burgundy lambskin without any issues. Here are before and after pics (the lighting is quite a bit different but you can get the idea):

Hi, yes, I always try these products in discreet areas first just to be safe but I haven’t really had any major issues yet - the worst thing that ever happened was some very mild color transfer when I cleaned a desk set made of LV taiga leather, but I was unusually aggressive in that instance.Thank you so much!! It looked gorgeous.
Did you try on a small area (maybe on the inside) before applying it to the whole bag?
May I ask you if you used a “soap for leather” before applying the moisturiser?
Thanks again 🥰
Thank you soooo much! Your info has been very helpful ❤️Hi, yes, I always try these products in discreet areas first just to be safe but I haven’t really had any major issues yet - the worst thing that ever happened was some very mild color transfer when I cleaned a desk set made of LV taiga leather, but I was unusually aggressive in that instance.
As for cleaning the bag first, I’ve had great luck with products from the handbag spa (https://thehandbagspa.com/shop/) - they have all sorts of great products, including gentle cleansers and conditioners. I successfully rubbed out a pretty deep scratch with their products. The one thing I would recommend: no matter what products you use, if you are layering several products (Ex. cleaner followed by a conditioner) wait for the first treatment to completely dry before applying the next one, usually 24 hours. I’ve heard horror stories about bags losing all of their natural sheen and becoming really dull after additional products were applied too soon.
Good luck! I’ve been very very happy with all my “home spa” treatments.
