I vote for anything swift or box for a transition to night. Nothing bigger than a 30cm..DEFINITELY GH! As far as color is concerned, I think your evening wear will dictate what color you need to get. If you wear a lot of light colored ensembles, then a biscuit would be lovely. If you wear mostly darks, go for the marron fonce or simple black, but not a textured black. I love love love GH...I think it suits for bfast, lunch and dinner!

To all ladies who contibuted THANK YOU for giving me some light on this, very much appreciated.
Now my problem is to scout and filter all the reputable sellers to get my choice of color. I guess the first color comes first on my way would be the lucky one. Perhaps I shall call it my GOODluck Birkin bag.:p

If the evening were very, very casual, I would go for a Birkin but, otherwise, I would not pick a Birkin. It is a casual style---essentially a tote bag--and is too casual IMO in any size for a dressy night out. I would pick a clutch or other dressier style.

I would choose the Hardware depending on the kind of jewels she wears.
White gold/platinum or gold?
I always wear white gold so I would go for palladium hardware.

My evening bag is a brown - Cocoan, to be exact. And I love it since most of my evening wear is rooted in browns, creams, and dreamy colours.

When I do wear black outfits, I mix it up and wear a natural colour (a bit lighter than gold, near a camel colour) because it works with my hair instead of my outfit or shoes and isn't too matchy matchy.

There are no rules. Go for whatever makes you happy girl! And congratulaions!

You know what? I actually don't think you can kill two birds with one stone. :smile1:

One either over-kills in daytime, or it appear too casual during night time. I know you're probably looking for something that will justify the hefty price tag and make it wearable all the time, but I don't think that after getting one birkin, it will ever be enough. Birkins are like cocaine.

So, my thoughts are, regular leather for daytime and exotic leather for evening. In terms of color, it really depends on what's in your wardrobe.

You said it all !!!
And you made me ask myself the question of this thread...
I've found it : Birkin 30 black box leather with palladium. That would work for me...not sure it would work for someone else....

^^I agree--hard to envision a single bag that ideally fits all needs, but, if you had to try, a 30 black box Birkin with PH is a good bet. If you can handle a 30....

I agree. And if the evening were very very casual, then I don't really see it as that different from slightly dressy daytime dressing. To me, the size and style of the bag speak louder than the material and color or hardware. Also, IMO a Kelly morphs more seamlessly from day to night.
BUT...I did see pictures of a very lovely black lizard Birkin 25 modeled by a tpf member and that was one Birkin I could see doing this rather seamlessly. Even so, I think it functions better as a night bag than a day bag because a Birkin 25 probably holds a lot less than larger Birkins. In the end I just prefer having different bags for different situations. Otherwise I feel I have a day bag that isn't quite day, and an evening bag that isn't quite evening.
