Maybe you could replace the solitaire setting to avoid the problems? A plain setting is fairly inexpensive.

I looked around lastnight on Shaneco.com. They had some I liked but they were $500. I'm broke as a joke right now :P I was really hoping that they could just fix the prongs for me. I'm not to worried about the head being a smidge off. I just want the prongs fixed so I don't have to worry about the darn thing falling out. Right now I'm still wearing my old set. The new set is tucked away in a box till it gets fixed.

My husband said he might take me to St.Louis soon to have it looked/fixed by a bigger chain store. All we have here is a tiny family run place (nice people!)

I like the ring guard but I think it takes away from the stone as a set. If you just have the stone reset into a new solitare setting, it shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred. Some places might even give you credit for the gold in the original setting.

Pretty stone! You mentioned in your first post in this thread that you're planning to take the diamond to another jewelry store to have the specs confirmed. If possible, you should take it in to an independent appraiser to get accurate, unbiased information on the diamond. You won't get that from a jewelry store. Pricescope.com has a list of independent appraisers.

That would be ideal but I live in a very small town. My husband and I are stationed here in Fort Leonard Wood MO. Known as "Fort Lost in the Woods" :P

I could go to St. Louis but I have no way of getting there right now (I can't drive on the highway, I'm a big baby) lol!

I totally agree, I'd wear it as a solitaire. The ring guard takes away from it and makes it look like it's from the 90's.

SOLITAIRE ALL THE WAY!!!!:yahoo:

LOL! Really?? LOL!!!!

I guess you just gotta see it in person. Those little diamonds are soooo sparkly! Way more so than the ones on my other wedding ring. I have to get it resized either way. I love the option of wearing it two ways! So cool!

Thank you everyone!

wow, i logged on tonight just to see what the appraisal was: you are one lucky gal!!! enjoy it! what a terrific find for you. looks great on your finger w/ or w/o the guards.
