Funny, at Century 21 last week- 2 women tried to take it when I put it on the floor real quickly to try something on thinking it was being sold there and asked me where I got it. lol

Unfortunately, Moogle...I was bummed when I got my chocolate garbo...the color looked a dull brown instead of the rich chocolatey look in the photo...but even worse, it was smashed FLAT in the NM box with hardly ANY stuffing, and then get this...the Be&D nameplate inside the bag is upside down! Ugh. I knew the sale was too good to be true. Rats. :tdown:

I got my Be & D Grabo back from customer service.... very bizarre. I have the cream w/ cognac leather combo and gold studs. 1 stud came off and they replaced it with a silver one!! They did not charge me anything, not even shipping, but why a silver stud? Its on the bottom so not too noticeable but, that's a boo boo.

I don't see any recent post but was very interested to read the posts. When the urge for a new, or gently used, handbag strikes obsession. I read all I can about different brands and follow all precautions ebay recommends. I also love a good deal. My bold pressure goes too high to risk the auctions. The problem is desire can lead to impulsive buys. The close review comes after the purchase. Twice I've been lucky, once humiliated ( Valentino for $60...right), and I'very been disappointed several times. Those were buys that were more deliberate gambles. Now, I really want to purchase something special. All I shared here spans a one year period. I still have more desire than dollars or "sense". So, if anyone reads this, I need confirmation I should not buy any of the BE & D Garbo bags currently selling on eBay. First, their seem too many. They are priced from $119 to $129. The Garber marked $129 is "new with tags".

That should be Garbo. Word prediction is cruel. I have not reviewed what I wrote as I posted accidently. At-any-rate, the number for sale, at such a low price, should signal "buyer be informed". Then desire says, "These bags are from store displays, retired, and have been waiting in storage. To be fair, I do not believe all sellers are aware if they are selling a replica. Sorry, this was my first post. I wrote too much and will try to avoid essays in the future.

BE&D went out of business a few years ago, so it could legitimately be that someone is cleaning out old stock. I used to go to their showroom sample sales in New York and have quite a number of bags as a result, some of which I've rarely used and have been tempted to eBay myself. In their heyday they were not a brand that was knocked off often if at all - the bags had high retail prices but never became super well-known outside of the Garbos for a hot minute. I saw them more on celebrities than anywhere else, and the Purse Blog has a number of entries on their styles. They also had a pretty wide range of styles aside from the heavily studded, thick leather bags - they did wallets and tech accessories, belts and shoes at their height.

Thank you so much! The only information I have relied on until now has come from the generalized guides. Obviously there is much more involved. This forum is amazing. Your expertise benefits buyers and sincere sellers as well. It would be impossible to find such detailed information elsewhere. I recently found a serious appreciation for handbags. The artistic designs, exquisite materials, and unparalleled craftsmanship is overwhelming. I was addicted to antique art glass. Vintage and contemporary bags are my new obsession.
