I don't think it is very unusual, it is very common in places that are naturally hot and humid. Here in Florida we tick both boxes and of the 4 bamboo top handles I own two have the same issue. I didn't know there was something to keep it in shape when you put it in storage, but I will try a tie rip with just a little tension on the one in storage now.

I saw Ektevare never got back with an update, are there any solutions known? I'd be interested.20200208_144601_resized.jpg 20200208_144715_resized.jpg 20200208_144811_resized.jpg

I'd recommend taking the black along to Gucci to find out if they can do anything for you. Looks like it's moved a lot.

Yeah, the black is worse than the tan one. Weird enough though on both bags it's only on one side, the other handle is fine. Thanks I will take it to Gucci next time. Though they don't make this model anymore, they still use the same handles on other models.

Little raven, I have the exact same black bag as yours and had the same problem- the handles on mine were expanding to a point that the leather flaps holding the handle rings were starting to distort and strain the main body of the bag.

There arent any Gucci stores where I live, and the handles started to bother me so much that
I decided to do the crazy and took the handles out using mini screws! I tied ropes around handles to the desired width and soaked in water for few hours, then left them to dry in the sun for few days. After making sure the handles were completely dry, I screwed the handles back in. So far the handles dont show any further cracks nor mould, and have not expanded since. I think it's also important to keep them stored in dry, cool areas- which I admit I often forget to do!

You're very brave!

Do you have any before and after shots?
