For mntncat:

" Pilatesworks, congrats on finding the 42 khaki!! You are great at finding the rare jackets , you have to teach me your ninja abilities, LOL. I'm curious to see how you like the 42 khaki too compare to the khaki 40... If it is not too much trouble would you please measure the sleeve lengths on your black/silver '08 and the black/bronze '10, I have a crazy theory that I hope you can help with. Thank you! "

The sleeves of ALL my jackets are 26 inches long.....this is the 2009 size 40 and 42 Khakis, the 2008 Black with Silver zippers, and the 2010 Black with Bronze zippers.
Mind you, I did not have a fabric measuring tape, and just used a ruler!:D
I am happy to help!

Thank you Pilatesworks :hugs: for taking the time to measure the sleeves. My crazy theory is '08 and '09 were cut with shorter sleeves and '10 is with longer sleeves and smaller lapel. Luckily I have no more crazy theories about this jacket, LOL.

From the photos, the front of both 40 and 42 look great. They both look great also from the side with partial zip. I would not be able to vote from the front and sides alone. However, when I saw the back photo, I can really tell the 42 is "baggier". I also agree the 40 looks tailored for you. I don't think the 42 looks too baggy and if you were wanting this jacket for layering I would vote 42. But, you don't really layering in TX anytime of year so my vote is 40, it already got the broken in vintage finish on it, which is so :rochard: Which are you keeping?

Definately 40! Looks great on you!

My opinion is that these jackets are meant to be snug and fitted. I think if they are too baggy then it can take away the feminine, tailored look....

Keep your size 40 - it honestly looks fantastic

Yup, I have decided, and I am keeping the 40.

I spoke to Steve at Bal CM, and someone is wait-listed on the 42.....if it is a TPF-er, I am almost certain I will send the 42 back Tuesday ( Memorial Day is Monday, everything is closed) so you can be the next in line! :D
This jacket is 100 % pristine, not a single mark on it, it looks like it has not been touched by human hands!
My 40 came to me with SO many marks !
However, these nail-marks and scratches are inevitable, and this jacket looks great distressed, very vintage.

I agree that the size 42 jacket looks baggy in spots, IMHO it looks kinda 'sloppy' on me.
Having said that, if I layered with a sweater it would probably look better, but I do not see me doing that in Texas. I wore my 40 all last winter with just a long sleeved shirt, or tee shirt, underneath and I was never cold.
The 40 is slightly tight in the arms, but on the whole I agree with y'all that it looks so much better being more fitted.

My Black 2008, which is a 42, is as big as the 42 Khaki....it is exactly the same size.
BUT, for some reason ( maybe because it is Black? ) it does not look as baggy.

So, now I know once and for all which size is best on me!
Thanks everyone for your input! :hugs:

I'm so glad you are getting the 40! IMO the fit is much more sexy chic!! 2009 Khaki is such a wonderful color and I'm so glad you finally found the perfect one for you!
Enjoy!!!

Oh wow!!! I've just spent hours drooling over everyone's Bal jackets and seriously considering splurging on one this (southern) winter. I don't have anything khaki in my wardrobe but just love the look of the 2010 khaki. I have red hair so khaki is one of those colours that's supposed to look good and offset all the black in my wardrobe. PLus I've heard army green is a bit of a trend atm?

For those who ordered off Departement Feminin, did you have to pay customs tax when it arrived or not? As I've heard if you pay via Bal UK there's no customs tax for some reason so maybe I should order through them?

So what's the verdict is it worth it? As I'm also considering a Rick Owens leather jacket and wondering if I should get that first or the Bal. Do you think it will be a classic in 10 years or out of style by then?

And what colour -- khaki, black or some other colour?

Hey Leslie,

I definitely like the 40 better on you. You have completely broken it in and it is all you. The back looks too big on you slim pilates shape. :D Especially in Texas, I don't see you needing to put a sweater on underneath too often and if you do, with the 40 you can probably make it work.

Isn't it amazing how the 42 came with not a scratch? Mine was like that too. I also think it is interesting how each jacket can have a slightly different shade/color. I am so glad you satisfied your curiosity and I guess it is lucky for that person on waitlist that you are sending it back!

I still have both my black and my khaki waiting patiently cool weather to return.

congrats leslie, this khaki jacket is a true beauty, i do not mind the scars and marks on the bal jackets, i feel it's part of the vintage look.
you have a wonderful jacket collection now.

BALCHLFEN welcome and congrats on the purchase of your Bal Moto Jacket. May I say you have divine taste and look smashing in your new addition. I like the way we can see your lapels and crisp collar (mine does not stand out so well)!

PILATESWORK WOOO HOOO with the 40 decision, much better look for you seriously. It's difficult when you're a size in between, i.e. like you could be a 41? It really doesn't matter because this 40 is awesome on you.

CLASSICSGIRL I BOUGHT FROM DF~ YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. On a public forum we shouldn't speak how they do things, my advice is to email them with your questions. Their customer service is the best around. Are you an Autumn red head or a Summer red head? Is your skin pink or orangy?

Thanks so much for your input: HappyAngel, Del, NicoleC, mntncat, Balchlfen, Purses&pugs, Eilene, classicsgirl, susie and pattijewel!
I am glad I got the jacket just to make sure that the one I have is perfect.....tho my family does think I am a bit crazy for getting yet another Moto jacket in a color I already own, and then making them take pics of me in each of them!
But it is nice to know y'all understand......!
( hahah, susie you are right, I am no doubt a 41! )
