I agree that money can be spent toward more "useful" things but same can be said about the expensive bags that we buy for ourselves. That's what luxury is....it's never a necessity and the money can always be used for savings or investments instead. One has to weigh whether buying the luxury item prevents you from reaching your financial goals. If the answer is yes, then one should not be making the purchase.

I totally agree with this. If you have the money, put it toward whatever you like, whether that be savings, clothes, purses, whatever. I actually thought about purchasing that same Swagger for my little girl when it went on sale for $125 recently. I'm still considering it, but ended up getting her a purse from Target for now. Purses are my passion and once I saw my little girl taking interest in what I was carrying on my arm, I wanted to share that love with her. I have three boys and she's my youngest and only girl. When she takes to frilly, girly things that I like, I'm all for it! A mom gets tired of monster trucks and airplanes sometimes!
