Bag charms—the struggle!

I love bag charms, but I can’t wear them for every bag. For me, it depends on the bag, where I’m going, and whether I’ll make too much noise  But if I think it adds a nice touch to a particular bag, I’m all for it. Today I’m adding the Insolence bag charm to my Neonoe.

That’s gorgeous! I agree. Some bags don’t really need a bag charm while others just look weird with one.

I like bag charms but the issue for me is the price. They usually cost as much as an SLG so I can’t justify it. I did however buy one of the Christmas animation charms from last year while in Paris. The price was easier to swallow and it also serves as a souvenir from my trip lol
Right? It's hard to spend that money when you know it could get you much farther. As much as I admire them, I only bought one...it's the gold oval with the address of the House on it (the Maison charm, I think). It's really stunning....and has probably only been used 5 times, lol!

I have mixed feelings about bag charms... I’ve bought and sold many of them over the years. I have been tempted by some of the pricier designer ones, but I won’t let myself buy one because I don‘t use them enough to justify the cost. I still have a few leather tassels and fur poms that I purchased to add to my bag straps with a small length of ball chain... I tend to use them in the fall/winter. The huge multicolored Pom on the right is one of my fave Etsy finds.0334EE1C-F327-4391-A52F-857E7BF86B49.jpeg

And here I am eyeballing your Kusama charm! I just bought a Kusama NF from Fashionphile is excellent condition and I'm on the lookout for all things Kusama.

And yes, that Jack and Lucie cost me a pretty penny, but I'm soooooo happy I have it now.

I went out and bought Jack + Lucie because of you! Now we’re even! You just have to show us the neverfull when you receive it. As for me I have a white MC sarah wallet on the way... here’s a pic:

I’m debating one of the chain ones for my Black pm city steamer since it’s so simple but I haven’t actually tried any yet. It might look weird since it can’t hang handle to handle.

Has anyone had issues with charms scratching the canvas of a bag? I just bought my first LV purse (Speedy 35B DE) and I love the idea of adding a charm but I'm afraid of scratching the canvas or leather handle. Not sure if I'm being paranoid but also, with the price of the bag, I want to make sure I am preserving it in case I decide to sell it in the future.

I'm not "allowed" to have my speedy for a few more weeks because I'm waiting to find out if I'm getting promoted or not. If I get promoted, this is my celebratory gift to myself, and if I don't get promoted it's my consolation prize. But I wanted to take a pic of it modeling the charm I made.

Here's my DIY bag charm. I think it turned out pretty well! Each coin is from a country my husband and I have visited and I tried to get a mix of metals so that I don't have to try to match the bag's hardware.

I used 7 coins and each cost me about $10, and the chain is a custom order from Mautto for about $35. So this cost a little over $100 to make. I couldn't handle $500 for one that had a bunch of logos (not knocking anyone! Obviously I was highly inspired by the LV chains).

Bag charms add some personality and can distract from defects in older bags. They can also bring new life to a beloved bag that doesn’t thrill like it used to. I like them, but tend to like more discrete ones.
