Actually I had another really positive Coach experience just yesterday. We went out to the Camarillo, CA outlet. It was almost 90 degrees yesterday. I had my dog with me and as soon as I walked in the greeter at the door offered my dog a glass of water. Not one other store we walked into offered it. I LOVE COACH!!!!

I have a long story about my experience. I had a merch. credit for around $900. My local store did not have any of the legacy shoulder bags, so I ordered one in black, whiskey and white on line and put the purchase on my credit card. i then returned the unused bags with all tags attached and my receipts to the store to put the refund back to my credit card so that i could then purchase them at the store with my merch. credit. they had a hard time trying to understand what i was doing. Then, i decided to use the whiskey after i got home, and i discovered that it was too small for me. so then i had to return all three bags again. as i said unused and tags attached. the SA's were so rude to me, they said that i had purchased 6 of the same bag and wanted to know why. i explained the whole situation again, and said that i should have tried one of the bags before purchasing 3 but did not want to miss out on all of the colors, or try the bags before i had purchased with my store credit. i asked what they thought that i was doing with the bags. they said that they didn't know, but that i had made several returns and they were rude so now i do not feel comfortable to even go back there. i know alot of my fellow pf'ers do returns because like me sometimes it is hard to make the decision when you spend that much money. just wanted to share and get opinions. thanks.

Since you are in the KC area, do you normally shop the Plaza or Oak Park? Just wondering, because when I shopped at the Plaza, the girls there were soo nice. When I went to Oak Park the girls were nice, but a couple kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

Hi, KC-area girls. I often go to the Overland Park coach and I have hit-and-miss service. They don't often go out of their way to find an item, but they are pleasant.

The best service I ever has was at the Fashion Show mall in Las Vegas. I would go back there in a heartbeat to buy something from those women.

^agreed, I've gotten GREAT service at Fashion Show. But I don't live in Vegas, so I don't go there often.

I live within driving distance of two boutiques. I stopped shopping at one of them because the service was so bad. The only time I ever got an SA to pay attention to me in that one was when I was carrying my legacy satchel. It was clear to me why...

What trips me out is if someone is carrying the latest and greatest $600 Coach bag, what is the likelihood that they will buy another one? Well, let me rephrase that if someone (that is not a member of this forum) is carrying the latest and greatest $600 Coach bag, what is the likelihood that they will buy another one?

I walked in there with a bag that showed that I *needed* a new handbag.

But it is all good. I continued to buy handbags. I am going to the outlet this weekend. :)

I think the logic behind that is that, they obviously had the money to lay down on the more expensive bag, so it shows that they probably have that kind of money to spend. And if they've already bought an expensive bag once, they would be more likely to do so again. Whereas when someone is not carrying an expensive bag, there is no evidence that this person would lay down that kind of money for an expensive bag. One person is proven to have done it, the other isn't.

I would imagine anyway.

I don't doubt it...especially in the crappier public-oriented jobs. Blah.

Yeah, plus in those crappier jobs, it's very rare that as a customer, I get good service. So it stands out even more when I do get it. I wish people would focus more on the positive experiences, and put their energy into reinforcing that, rather than in complaining about the negative all the time.

I have hit and miss with the Plaza store and Oak Park but the last time I was in the Plaza store one of the SAs rubbed me the wrong way and now I am having a hard time going back there. I went to Oak Park not too long ago and the SA that helped me there was wonderful. I was returning something to the Plaza store so I know that didn't make the SA happy but DANG it isn't like I don't go in there once a month and drop a grand at a time. That was only the second return that I have ever had to Coach. I am not going back to the Plaza store when that particular SA is working. I will call in advance and go by when my favorite one is there. She is amazing. I haven't seen her in a while so I am nervous that she may have left. I am also going to give Oak Park another chance.

Good luck!!

Wow I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I've been to an actual coach store twice and both times recently. It's at Copley Place in Boston and I was just surprised at how wonderfully nice and helpful and sweet every single person working there was! I don't think I was ever treated better then that in any other store. It's awful you went to such a cold store..

i'm sorry that happened to you but there are a few things i don't understand.

can't you purchase online with your credit? if you can, and use it, once returned, you could always get the merchandise credit back as just that, credit. most people would prefer it this way, i have a customer who was a bit skeptical about ordering the ergo in advance, the vintage one, with that kind of price, but she mentioned she had a 800$ credit from the mandy. i told her that if she wanted, she could use this credit to order it, i'd waive the shipping, and when it doesn't work out she can always return.

she gets the credit back and it doesn't mess up her credit card (bill statement) nor does she have to front cash up, kwim?

they shouldn't have been rude with you, but understand that you ordering it online and returning it in the store...online gets that credit but the volume is taken out of the store. in the future i'd recommend purchasing it over the store, so at least the shipping is waived, and if you do return it, no harm done, you gave them X amount and took back X amount.

Sad stories! Disheartening. The outlet store near Wash DC is a favourite haunt for my mother, and every time we go they fall all over themselves to help us. Maybe because they recognize our faces (we buy a lot of presents there), but I seem to think they've always been that way.

I wonder if outlets try harder?

Well............I know the Coach outlet SA dont work on commission, not sure about the stores. I dont wanna pull the race card...but whenever I go into a Coach store alone, I get great service. When Im there with my BF (He's black) they seem to look past me. I've also notices...atleast here in Vegas, there arent too many black SA. Maybe I have a grudge against them for not hiring me (I ended up with a way better job anyways..so HA) <<sorry for the venting lol. I dunno, has anyone else every experienced this?? Maybe I should post a thread.

QueenOfThe702...Well, I am black. You know when I get bad treatment I always think of that first. Who ever really knows? But I do know that sometimes sales associates in the stores tend to "estimate my purchasing power" and their service directly correlates with that. I know lots of people that "dress up" when they go to the malls to kinda circumvent that. But I am not going to play games to spend my money. There are too many options.
