So sorry this happened. I considered them previously but decided not to use based on bad feedback from shoppers (Yelp). I'm moving to the area soon and am curious to see them in action.

Again, sorry and thanks for the warning.

I did some trading with them before, thats why I came back and didnt check recent Yelp comments!! Anyhow, I recommend to stay away from them :(

I am so sorry this happened to you. No one should ever need to face this type of ordeal.

I am jbeyond mad just reading what they did to your bag. This is certainly not a new bag anymore and the value of the bag has decreased due to the scratch and missing feet protection. I agree with you polishing will not help with anything. How irresponsible of them to ask you to consign and yet do not take care of the bag!

Thank you for reporting your experience here so that all of us know what is happening. I certainly hope you will get more compensation than just money to polish the feet! They should buy out the bag from you now since it is their fault. This is absolutely not right of them to mistreat your bag this way. Such bad business ethics!

We argued in the store, but Eddie ( store owner) wasnt at the store. But they refused to buy the bag and no compensation! Drove me so mad! Even a little pen mark on the handles of the bag! Really must think twice before going to this store!

Wow a pen mark, that is not acceptable! I am so sorry that this has happened to you.
Have you considered take them to the small claim court? I think you have a solid case against the owner. If the judge sides with you, $5K will compensate the lost value of your brand new bag.

Certainly, you should leave feedback on Yelp and other sites that allow you to do so. Did they give you any paperwork at the time of consignment that outlined their obligations? Did it state who has the obligation in case of loss or damage? I think that the consignee should take excellent care of items that are new and expensive. That said, the law may provide otherwise - eg that the consignee is not responsible for damages to goods.

That said, in the case of expensive items like Hermes handbags, it would be best to specify that the item is not to be used and that if not sold it should be returned in the same condition as when left. The reputation of the consignment shop really is important. Thank you for letting us know that this shop did not take proper care of the bag.
