So far my bags have fallen in the mid-range category and I'd pretty much define myself as an Everyday Opportunist. Once I make the luxury leap though (soon, very soon... today?) I'll definitely be a Careful User. I wouldn't chose a bag that needed to be babied though, not my jam!

I'm mostly careful. I would never buy a bag and be too scared to use it and let it sit on a shelf. I take care of my things, it's not like I would throw a bag down on the floor and call it good....but I'm not going to treat them like a museum piece either.

Interesting that most of us are careful users!

You can put me in that category too! I'm not that surprised so many of us are careful users, given that we all love bags and want to use them. I have a variety of bags at different price points, and will bring most of them most places I go, but I think the only ones I'm truly careless with are my Longchamp Le Pliages. If I can't get a bag wet, I probably won't buy it (Hermes Box leather is a the exception). I don't want color transfer but don't worry about it since I don't tend to wear dark wash jeans. A few scratches and some wear doesn't bother me because I want to use the bags and not have them sit on a shelf or worry all the time when I do take them out. I try not to ever put my bags on the floor but have no problem putting a bag on my lap or hanging it over the back of a chair at a restaurant.

Basically, I have a variety of bags so I can pick whatever suits the occasion and then *try* not to worrry about it!

Use them! I have too many bags to worry about any of them getting beat up; given that I rotate mine regularly, that's probably not going to happen any time soon...unless a mishap occurs! In which case my collection would probably keep increasing, even after these occasional accidents :whut:

I'm somewhere between careful user and everywhere opportunist. Frankly I tend to avoid buying bags that need to be babied. Don't use it in wet weather, I can deal with that. Don't take it to the beach, I can deal with that. Never ever put it on the floor for any reason, I can't deal with that. You can scratch it with your fingernail, can't deal. I don't think I abuse my bags, but I want them to be able to stand up to normal use and still look decent.

Me too! I am bad at putting bags back into their dust bags. I err on the side of durable and practical for my lifestyle.

For example, I'll never get a light suede bag. That is just asking for trouble. I do have a couple of light bags - they have color transfer. I got over it. It wasn't something I was aware of, but it adds character.

I do get annoyed when the interior gets messed up though. Ugh I have a lipgloss that totally messed up the interior of one of my bags (A Coach Kristin Hobo in a Taupe color if I remember correctly). I haven't used that one in a while, but it also is looking a bit worn so that is one of the reasons. But I got plenty of good use out of it. I think it is even 7 years old at this point.

If a bag looks too high maintenance I put it back. My Ferragamo gets stuffed in between uses. And a few others do, but I am more live and let live with my purses. At the end of the day they are meant to be used.

On that note, I'd probably never get a Chanel or Hermes bag because they just scream a little too loudly for me.

I'm curious whether our community babies their bags, uses them in every situation, or is somewhere in between. If you score 3+ in any one category, that's you! Please share!

BAG-BABIER:
--When I make reservations at a restaurant, my bag has to have its own seat.
--I use my bag only in perfect weather. I check the weather report zealously to make sure my designer bags don't get wet.
--I use my designer bags only on special occasions, like a wedding or an adult-only party/gathering.
--I store each handbag in its original packaging and put each bag back after every use.
--It bothers me tremendously if there are any scratches or color transfer, so I wear only certain clothes with each bag. No denim with white bags!

CAREFUL USER:
--If my bag has its own seat, great, but I won't sweat it if it doesn't.
--I use some designer bags in the rain and snow, but am careful not to use my nicest designer bags in the rain and snow.
--I use all of my designer bags, but I'm careful when and how I use them. Certain bags will be used around my kids or in everyday situations.
--I store my bags carefully but some will be out in my home for several days before I put it back in its dust bag.
--A few scratches don't bother me, but I try to avoid color transfer.

EVERYWHERE OPPORTUNIST:
--My designer bags can go on the floor.
--I use my Birkins and Chanel flaps at the beach, in the rain, and in the snow. How else can I get those amazing Instagram pics?
--My Birkin is my diaper bag. I also wear all of my designer stuff everyday.
--I don't store my bags in dustbags or in its original packaging. Bags are out for me to see and use.
--I don't mind if my bags look used eventually. It only adds to the character of the bag.
I'm a careful user definitely.

The only bag I'm most worried about and try to baby it is my Mulberry Mini Cara as it is the most expensive bag I own and Its in the quilted soft leather. Other designer bags such as my Bally (I bought it at the Syd outlet a long time ago and don't even remember the name of it) and LV Speedy B I don't baby them as much.

im a careful user for some of my LV bags that have leather on the bottom so for them i dont usually put them on the floor but for everything else it goes where ever i put it!! LOL!!
but i do put all bags back into there dust bags and boxes after each use....they all get tucked away!

I'm a careful user with a slight bag-babier tendency [emoji1]
I don't think I'll ever be the everywhere opportunist. I think it stems from growing up in a make ends meet household. I feel like I have to really take care of anything I own because it's a reminder of the times when we couldn't afford much.
