Dear all, I’m hoping someone could help me authenticate this scarf? I bought it a while back
One sides measures to 35” exact but I can’t get the other to Measure up. I’m guessing and hoping that’s a mistake on my behalf

Many thanks

We can’t authenticate this because we require a link to a live auction or listing. Please see the thread rules.

However, I have never seen a scarf (including dozens, if not hundreds I have personally bought from a boutique), that is precisely 35 x 35. The dimensions per se are nothing to worry about.

I believe Carre de Paris offers a paid scarf authentication service you might try:
(I’m in no way affiliated)
*This might help you if you need to file a Return due to inauthenticity (opinions here are not usually recognized). Best of Luck

Holy smokes, is a purple Lumieres de Paris a thing?? It's not in the HSCI catalogue (though neither is another authentic colorway - the sagey gray one); I can't find any other examples of this on a Google image search; and no one here on TPF seems to have shown one, but if this were real, I can't imagine that it wouldn't have been shown off in the last 15 years...?? The close-up photos are pretty convincing. Either this is a fantastic fake, or it's a very very uncommon colorway...?

Item: Lumieres de Paris scarf
Seller: petalsthingzz (Poshmark)
link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Hermes-Lumieres-de-Paris-100-Silk-Scarf
No listing number available

Edit: It looks like the "Hermes Paris" and the signature are photos from the blue cw of this design, which is concerning. I suppose it's possible they sold a blue one, too, and accidentally flubbed the picture upload; however, I looked through this person's visible items and didn't see a blue one, though it's possible that it sold and they removed the listing.

I’d request another detail photo of the artist signature from this scarf as it’s not discernible in full photo. Edit: otherwise I see no red flags.
Poshmark will also authenticate any item sold $500+, so if purchased at this price it will be sent to HQ for authentication before being sent to Buyer (though I have no experience with their H scarf knowledge).

They sent me an offer for less than that, so no "official" authentication would be available, and yeah, I would be skeptical of their authentication without seeing stats on how often they weed out fakes (of any type of merchandise, let alone H scarves).

There was no purple CW, there was a cobalt one, possibly very bad photography, the colors are way off

I would shy away from this - the signature belongs to another scarf.

The signature and one other photo look different - possibly different filtering, flash, lighting , camera rotated between shots .

As a rule, some or all shots may be completely wrong colors when taking pix

I have seen this a lot with honest unskilled photographers - ME - but it happens to the best resellers as well, not a definite tell of a fake
