Been working on this for what seems like an hour. Just when I believe it's fine, the wrong colors show on the auction. Maybe it's just photography. I'm sorry I cannot say definitively.

Hi! Could you please help me with this scarf? Thank you so much in advance.

I am trying to stick to our rule of not authenticating ended auctions. Please reread my response. The designer's name is Christine Henry. Your two responses are basically the same thing, right? Plus, one of our other members gave you some good information.

Oh my goodness, are you saying you believe this is a fake? I'm not sure if you are politely telling me that I ought to be more careful in the future, or if you are politely telling me I just probably bought a fake.

I'm feeling a little faint at my stupidity.

Well heck, what a fool I was. I fooled myself into believing that because fakes were illegal in Japan, and because this seller is a top rated buyer, this would be a trustworthy purchase.

I guess I need to work on filing a complaint with eBay. I'll contact the seller first. I didn't want this to be true, but thank you for your help.

Try contacting them first. The two times that I got snagged early on in my eBaying I had to write to sellers and they didn't know and happily took back the scarf and refunded.

weird. I can still see it.

You’re absolutely right ; I was so enthusiastic ( and terribly clumsy as well ; I’m new at this) I searched for it as “ Hermes Carré rose”, since the name was lacking in the description and it didn’t turn up. I found it later ( only had to click on the link [emoji21]
and left a message for the seller, I hope she is willing to ship to my country). Thanks.

You’re right, my mistake. I was so enthusiastic ( and clumsy, I’m a completely new at this), that I entered the website and started a search for it as “ Hermes Carré, rose “ ( since no name was mentioned) and it didn’t pop up while all I had to do was click the link ( cringing ). Anyway, I contacted the seller and hope she is willing to ship to my country :)

Dear authenticators,

I have perhaps an unusual scarf for you to authenticate. It's claimed to be a 90 cm cashmere and silk scarf from 1979. (Does anyone know when H started with these blend scarves and in this size?) The care tag I have never seen before and I can't find anything similar. Please advise!

Comments: Never seen this size and cashmere/silk or this label before. But it's old, so I don't know how to assess it.

Much appreciated!!

This is authentic. That's a really old care tag.

This thread is for discussion on authenticity of Hermes scarves and Ready-To-Wear.

NOTE: The PurseForum requests that only members with an extensive knowledge of the brand and authenticating who have over 500 posts participate as authenticators in this AT thread. The moderators reserve the right to remove authentications that do not meet these requirements.

This thread provides help with authentication –did Hermes indeed manufacture an item? Authentication requires a link to a currently for sale item with photos of title, signature, copyright, hems, close-up of fabric – weave, full flat scarf photo. Hermes scarves, have over the years, been manufactured to different standards of quality. Identifying marks may be absent on some scarves. Ask seller for extra photos prior to authentication request. It is the buyer’s responsibility to assess condition - does the item show signs of wear?

Please follow these rules:

  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated. This is not a thread to ask general questions about Hermes, please refer to our reference section for such information. Finally, do not submit requests for something that is obviously a fake, e.g. the item says it is a replica, or a $200 Birkin.

  • It is the preference of the authenticators on this thread not to give authentication to members who buy and resell scarves as an ongoing practice. It is also the preference of the authenticators to comment on current, not closed, auctions and sales, and to give authentication to members who post in a range of threads, not just requesting free authentication for designer items. If your request is not answered here, for whatever reasons, professional authentication services are available outside of PF.

  • This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

  • Authenticators are not required to answer every request, some may not be answered for various reaons, and it is their right to ignore a request that is not in the proper format.
  • Authenticators may also request additional pictures and/or information in order to assist with authentication. Please remember, it is always useful to have several close up pictures when submitting an item for authentication.
  • For scarves, please provide pictures of the hem, tag if possible, copyright, and close up to show the weave. Hermes stamp on every item.
  • Please do not intervene to confront a troll or rudeness on the boards, just use the REPORT function to alert the mods, and let them handle it from there. In the meantime, just ignore the poster until a mod can intervene.

Dear Authenticators, can you please help me with this Hermes scarf? I suspect it is fake.

There's an obvious flaw, receipt with size and saying twill doesn't match size on plastic bag and saying silk Georgette (does Hermes ever use Georgette?) (do they ever come in plastic bags?) . I see reference to a fake here with the same receipt in HKD.

Thank you so much!
