This is somewhat of a general question about Fendi, and it pertains to Gucci and some other bags as well. What is the lining of the vintage bags called that looks like leather? I have a Fendi bag with a thin black lining that looks like leather. I know with the Gucci bags that are vintage, the lining peels heavily with age. The underside looks like fabric when the finish peels off, but I've seen it referenced as leather. The finish has the texture of leather, but it sure seems like vinyl or man made judging by the thickness (or lack of )

I can't speak for Gucci, but on Vintage FENDi bags, often it IS REAL LEATHER & SHould be. The pic you show of the serial # looks consistent & the leather is real. On occasion, some bags (like cosmetic bag, or beach bag) of the FENDI bags & other makers use a Coated Canvas material, more water/stain repellent, from which the wear will expose cloth. Also, many leathers used in Handbag Construction use a fabric Interface - a fabric glued on the inside surface of the leather. This gives the leather more strength & body. If you take a FENDi bag, like a spy bag & rub the leather together on the inside (lining pulled out) you can feel the canvas like interface surface (it does not feal like leather). Just about everything is wrong. We see a lot of these Fake Zucca De Jours. We don't usually publish details on this thread as to specifically what makes it a Fake rather than Authentic FENDI. I can tell you things are wrong with the leather & the card & the hologram tag & more....if you require any more specific details, PM me.

This definitely helps. When I could feel the fabric backing it made me question the fact that it was leather. Thank you so much!
