no serial no. but it's real leather.and the pattern is very tidy.
The metal plate with leather backing combination wasn't used until more recently (the last 8-10 years or so), and there has always been a serial number either embossed in ink in the lining of the bag or lining of the interior pocket. If there isn't a serial number, I'd be highly suspicous...are you sure it's not in the lining of the pocket? It's usually in silver or gold...
