Hi all! I'm a new member to TPF, but have read a lot of blogs, posts and threads for help and info on this and other purses and love this site! The info found here has been invaluable!

Anywho, bought my first Fendi Spy! Always wanted one in my collection and chose the Spalmati to get my feet wet. Although it's an older one, I just love the funky colors great, tropical feel as I live in Hawaii and the coated jacquard is great for rainy season here.

Looks legit to me, but would love some reassurance. Just wanted to know what you all thought about authenticity B4 it's too late to get a refund through buyer protection. Any insight will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Those links to advice on determining Fake Fendis are total CR*P!!
They are inexperienced undocumented ramblings & all wrong....please ignore them if you are purchasing FENDI.

I have been authenticating FENDIs exclusively here for over 5 years & every once in a while someone brings up these internet postings on FENDI authentification. Anyone can post such internet pages, and unfortunately the ones who posted these pages were just "guessing" IMO.

Good to know!!!! I am always pulling stuff/researching the net, however always know that a reliable source is hard to find. Thank you for helping us determine whether to purchase or not. Ultimately, WE ALL WANT THE REAL THING!!

:)

does anyone know anything about vintage Fendi Bags? I just purchased one and questioned the authenticity so took it to the local Fendi Shop and the woman told me it was not authentic because it didnt have the authentification thing on it which was a hologram. I however have a fendi bag that I know is real because I bought it at Nordstroms from the Fendi booth and it doesnt have a serial number on it or a hologram- it's from around the same time as this one I just got I think (in the 80's and 90's). I emailed the seller saying that it wasnt authentic and wanted to return it and she said that she was sure it was authentic and asked me why I thought it wasnt. I shared what I had been told and she referred me to a link that where someone shared the same experience of not receiving correct information from someone at Fendi and how actually during a period of time (the 80's) serial numbers were not put on fendi bags. Would love any of your expert experience and/or feedback. I love the bag so if it is real, I'd love to keep it. But if it's not, then I'm not interested. Thanks in advance! (tried to post pics but am new so havent been able to figure it out yet?!)

A vintage Fendi will not have a hologram, but it should have a serial # imprinted on the lining or pocket or on a tag - plus we need to review it to make sure it is authentic even with the serial #. Yes in the 80s & older, it might not have serial #, but we might not be able to give an opinion on such a bag based on photos. If you can post pics of the bag or give us a link to the auction from whence it was purchased, we might be able to give you more feedback. For instance, if the bag is from the 1990s-2000s season, lack of serial # would mean it was fake. Also other features might identify it as such, including hardware, lining, etc.

To post pics, you can use the paper clip thingy on the top line of the Reply box...or use a website like photobucket, etc. Hope this helps! :smile1:

Picked up a Fendi bag the other day. Seems to good to be true ... Hallmarked "Fendi" on the leather patch of purse, two zipper pulls have Fendi logo and there's a Fendi logo underneath the inside zipper pocket. In addition, there is a serial # 22525556104. Real or fake?

Thanks- this helps. The thing that is weird is that the one I have and bought at Nordstroms, and thusly know is real, does not have a serial number on it either. The gold tone fendi tag on the inside of this new bag however is a bit bigger than the one in the old bag. For some reason the paper clip isnt working to attach photos but I tried photo bucket. http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd482/kekillion/. Look forward to hearing back.

I need a lot more pictures, inside lining, full front & back photos, strap, pockets, underside of zipper head. Double check along zipper seam & inside pockets or sewn into lining corners for a serial #. So far, I don't see any red flags....;)
