IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Nothing wrong with it. But for that style bag there should be a little white tag inside the kisslock pocket. The Authenticators would need to see a clear readable picture of the serial numbers from that tag.

ETA: usually BeenBurned will not authenticate anything from Posh Mark as the site never removes any reported fakes being sold through the site. I myself had a bad experience getting refunded for a vintage Coach that was obviously fake.
Ohh, I thought the numbers on the creeds were sufficient. What's the kisslock pocket for the saddle? is it just the pocket on the inside of the bag with the button snap?

I see about Posh, thanks for letting me know! I thought they removed fake postings :amazed: Did you decide to no longer purchase Coach bags from there? I thought the Saddle would be nice since I'm going to return a bag I bought during the SAS that's too heavy for me, but I guess I should stick to buying directly from the store.. Thanks again :flowers:

For that style those numbers on the Creed isn't sufficient because those are bogus numbers that mean nothing. The style number is different than the one on the Creed patch. Coach did that for a year and then went back to putting serial numbers back on the patch.

I used to buy a lot from there! I haven't completely stopped buying. I browse every now and then looking for rare Coach items and only buy if it's something I really really want. I used to sell there to but I keep putting my closet on vacation because I don't really want to pay that hefty 20% seller fee.

This is what the kisslock pocket looks like inside the bag. It's in the same position in the bag you're asking about. IMG_20180716_155634200.jpeg

Based on @BeenBurned 's comments and experiences I have read here, I don't even look at Poshmark listings, let alone buy.

Comment: there is a partial creed photo with ?4N-4154 showing. daria48 guides say -4154 very likely fake.

Good eyes!!!

I rest my case. I hope other members pay attention to my recent comments in this thread and the Vintage Chat thread about the seller. THEY CAN'T EVEN BE BOTHERED TO CHECK IF 4154 IS THE CORRECT STYLE NUMBER FOR A TAFT BAG (the Taft is style 9980), even though "4154" is posted as the style number along with the Taft name several times in the listing!

From the Wayback cache of Part 2 of the Daria48 Fake Numbers List:
"M4N-4154 - Update:
Enough evidence has been found to say that the above serial number is ALWAYS FAKE, no exceptions. Not only was the N plant in the US apparently opened only for a very brief time if it was ever opened here at all, but it had apparently closed long before the end of 1994 (the fake date code is for December 1994). No genuine Coach handbag has ever been found with that 4154 style number. And every bag we've found that number in not only has serious production mistakes and date irregularities and are never the same styles, but so far the creed seems to always have "SCRTCHES" misspelled. (9-16-15, thanks, Hyacinth!)"

A pic of of the serial number, the ".. 4N-4154" is clear when you know what to look for. And also the incorrect double seams on the front pointed out by Whateve:

I’m betting I know why station 85 does show good pics and rarely shows creeds. That bag is fake and with a common fake serial number. It’s M4N-4154.

As I said not even 24 hours ago, I don’t recommend the seller and wish he/she would be referred here.

Seller also says 4154 in the description. I'm seeing some seams on the front under the pocket that shouldn't be there. You can report it.

Damn you're good!!
While you're at it report that wig. Please.

Thanks all! The listing is still up and I'm assuming there have been several reports filed on it by now. We shall see.

ETA: I ran out of characters in the "detailed reason for report" box, otherwise I would have mentioned the wig. Next time!

The tag style number and serial number don’t match but I’ve seen this on dinkies before..

Thank you in advance!!

Hi authenticators, was there something wrong with my authentication requests? I made sure to read the rules on the first page before posting.

I have another comment.

@houseof999 is correct about my feelings toward poshmark. Unless and until they start abiding by the law and responding to and removing reported fakes as well as hire some knowledgeable brand experts, I will do whatever I can to recommend AGAINST Poshmark and recommend that buyers (and sellers) go elsewhere.

As for your requests and your "bump," please understand that there was less than 4 hours between your posts for authentication of the saddle and the dinky and the time you reposted. Keep in mind that those of us who help here do so voluntarily and do so during our own free time. We have jobs, families, obligations, and other activities that take our time and aren't necessarily on TPF 24/7.

Additionally, certain eras of bags can have specific authenticators who know those bags and that person may not be here at the moment you posted.

On other brands, they recommend waiting 24 hours before bumping a post in case it was missed.

Please be patient.

Ugh! My post was supposed to say that I know why STATION_85 doesN'T show good creed pics. She KNOWS that those pictures would be the dead giveaway that so many of the listings aren't legal!

This really underscores the depth of the knowlege here for Coach products by the authenticators and the authentication process here. When a volume seller like station_85 refuses to post full , clear Creed pics , it is clear that they do not have faith in the authenticity of their product and do not care what they are passing onto a seller.
