Is this bag fake?.. please confirm. I don't have any regular dinky to compare.

Item: Coach cornflower dinky
Link: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/253741731819

Seller: philosopher-queen2012

Comment: the hardware: the wrong orientation of the kisslock. The kisslock hardware.. isn't it always wrapped in brown color leather? The Creed patch.. I have never seen it on the kisslock pocket leather itself! The hardware also looks unusually shiny.

I can't comment on authenticity (per se) but there's no way I'd recommend anyone buy that bag if the pictures in the listing are all they're willing to offer.

There are too many Dinky bags with the same "DK-20215" non-serial number on the creed, some of which might be the same style and others are not. No matter the pattern, multiple styles have that number.

Sellers need to show the white label from inside the pocket both if they want to prove authenticity, fight a potential dispute or want their bags authenticated!

Hi. I am NOT an authenticator, just thinking the Dinky Bag Clubhouse
https://forum.purseblog.com/index.php?threads/Dinky-Bag-Clubhouse.933866/
might help with detail questions on that style of Dinky including kisslock hardware/leather & creed patch location. Post #37 shows an example. Hope that helps!

Daughters impulse buy...but here is the Creed photo... style is 9020. The M and the Z plant were flags, but after reading the posts from February 2016 I’m not sure. Help? Thanks as always!

It is fake. There is a frame around the number that shouldn't be there. The Z plant code was used for the Dominican Republic, not the US. The font is too thick. The zipper pull looks wrong. Insist the seller pays for shipping both ways when you return.

Thank you yet again, Hyacinth! (I did look at the info on the seller..station_85.....boy is he/she bad news!) Tried to tell my girl but she loved the bag and bought it, just hoping....
@Texas KP - You might want to refer station_85 ( station85 -- station 85 ) to this thread. If there's something she/he can learn, he/she should be open to it!

Personally, I wouldn't do business with that seller because I've authenticated their listings, watched the seller, the listings, the pictures (or lack thereof), the feedback and even recall posts from the now-defunct knowknockoffs purse site for over 10 years and IMO, although there may have been some improvement, listings still have a serious lack of necessary pictures for authenticating the items as well as poor descriptions and lack of honest disclosures of condition.

Creeds are never shown in station_85 's listings and this seller has enough experience with Coach to know how important they are. In my experience in watching sellers for close to 20 years, experienced sellers know what to show and what NOT to show in order to avoid showing the details that prove or disprove authenticity.

In two years of looking at A LOT of eBay listings with numerous pic or info requests of sellers, station_85 is the ONLY seller that did not respond to me.

might help with detail questions on that style of Dinky including kisslock hardware/leather & creed patch location. Post #37 shows an example. Hope that helps!

And in true Coach fashion, there appears to be more inconsistency between versions of the bag with the same style number.

According to the paperwork shown in this post, the style number of the bag shown is 37296.

In the pictures shown in the post, the creed is on the kisslock pocket as it is in the listing that @houseof999 asked about.

And in these listings on ebay with the same style number, creeds are in the same place:
1. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-COACH-WOMENS-DINKY-IN-GLOVETANNED-LEATHER-STYLE-37296/332376402337?epid=2061897594&hash=item4d632d69a1:g:5ucAAOSwvp5Zg-5G:sc:USPSPriorityMailSmallFlatRateBox!02452!US!-1&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

Can't see the creed but I can see that it's on the kisslock pocket:
2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-GLVTN-DINKY-XBOD-Purse-Black-Oxblood-37296/163141002864?hash=item25fbf62670:g:vKkAAOSw5KFbQqRz&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313
3. https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-WOMENS-DINKY-IN-GLOVETANNED-LEATHER-COACH-F37296/183180637483?hash=item2aa66ab52b:g:Ip8AAOSwYtla08q1&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

Yet this listing listed with the same style number, the creed patch is on the front wall:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Glovetanned-Leather-1941-Dinky-Crossbody-Bag-Turquoise-Aqua-Blue-37296/153078711569?epid=24019011250&hash=item23a433c511:g:PgkAAOSwzcpbNQzF&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

ETA: In the event that we thought some sellers might have used the wrong style number to describe the bag, this listing proves Coach's inconsistency. The style number IS 37296 as shown on the tag, yet the creed is NOT on the kisslock pocket as most listings show for the style.

After looking at a lot of listings for this style, I believe the bag in question IS an authentic style 37296 Dinky.

First, the strap hardware looked odd to me. But then I checked the Wayback Machine for late 2002 and it seems that these Flap bags from 2002 had a convertible strap -- still not quite sure how you attach the strap to convert it. Anyway, the style that looks like it should be this one, a "Legacy Small Flap", is listed with a different style number 9335. If this isn't a "Legacy Small Flap" and it's not a "Legacy Flap," what is it?:whut:

I don't have that style number in my files, but it is probably the larger version of 9335. For a convertible strap, you unbuckle it completely. Then you thread the strap through one loop of a buckle, gather both strap ends together and slip the leather loop on them to hold them together. Then you take both strap ends together and buckle them through the other buckle.

Thank you! I found another one like that on PM recently listed that also has the same Creed patch position! I am not aware of the details and I kept looking at all the stiches and they looked perfect! It just baffled me that Coach used the creed patch in that location in some and not others. Now I need to find out how they are different from other Dinky bags and what years they are normal for. Feel free to PM me if you know the answer.

I'm not sure, but it may be like the Legacy Small Slim Duffle Sac, which had one style number for the silver hardware (9326) and a different one (9328) for the gold hardware. Maybe the same was true for yours. Someone else may have more info.

Here's an instruction card for converting the strap, and a photo collage.
