IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

And in true Coach fashion, there appears to be more inconsistency between versions of the bag with the same style number.

According to the paperwork shown in this post, the style number of the bag shown is 37296.

In the pictures shown in the post, the creed is on the kisslock pocket as it is in the listing that @houseof999 asked about.

And in these listings on ebay with the same style number, creeds are in the same place:
1. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-COACH-WOMENS-DINKY-IN-GLOVETANNED-LEATHER-STYLE-37296/332376402337?epid=2061897594&hash=item4d632d69a1:g:5ucAAOSwvp5Zg-5G:sc:USPSPriorityMailSmallFlatRateBox!02452!US!-1&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

Can't see the creed but I can see that it's on the kisslock pocket:
2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-GLVTN-DINKY-XBOD-Purse-Black-Oxblood-37296/163141002864?hash=item25fbf62670:g:vKkAAOSw5KFbQqRz&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313
3. https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-WOMENS-DINKY-IN-GLOVETANNED-LEATHER-COACH-F37296/183180637483?hash=item2aa66ab52b:g:Ip8AAOSwYtla08q1&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

Yet this listing listed with the same style number, the creed patch is on the front wall:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Glovetanned-Leather-1941-Dinky-Crossbody-Bag-Turquoise-Aqua-Blue-37296/153078711569?epid=24019011250&hash=item23a433c511:g:PgkAAOSwzcpbNQzF&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

ETA: In the event that we thought some sellers might have used the wrong style number to describe the bag, this listing proves Coach's inconsistency. The style number IS 37296 as shown on the tag, yet the creed is NOT on the kisslock pocket as most listings show for the style.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Leather-Dinky-Crossbody-Shoulder-Bag-DUSTY-ROSE-37296-NWT-295-/283032138289?epid=23015932289&hash=item41e607b231:g:uR0AAOSwP61bNod-&_nkw=coach+37296&_sacat=0&_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&nma=true&si=OMQybDn4jO7V5iroLlSAqpadD9E%3D&orig_cvip=true&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Thank you! I found another one like that on PM recently listed that also has the same Creed patch position! I am not aware of the details and I kept looking at all the stiches and they looked perfect! It just baffled me that Coach used the creed patch in that location in some and not others. Now I need to find out how they are different from other Dinky bags and what years they are normal for. Feel free to PM me if you know the answer.

From what I am seeing, the Dinkys sold with a free secret charm, came with two hangtags (all leather) & have the creed on the kisslock. The Dinky Bag Clubhouse begins in 2016 with a majority of these types.

As you continue through the thread, more reveals are for the Dinkys with a 1941 hangtag (metal top) which seem to have the creed on the bag wall. As in BB’s example:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Glovetanned-Leather-1941-Dinky-Crossbody-Bag-Turquoise-Aqua-Blue-37296/153078711569?epid=24019011250&hash=item23a433c511:g:PgkAAOSwzcpbNQzF&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+37296&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

@Texas KP - You might want to refer station_85 ( station85 -- station 85 ) to this thread. If there's something she/he can learn, he/she should be open to it!

Personally, I wouldn't do business with that seller because I've authenticated their listings, watched the seller, the listings, the pictures (or lack thereof), the feedback and even recall posts from the now-defunct knowknockoffs purse site for over 10 years and IMO, although there may have been some improvement, listings still have a serious lack of necessary pictures for authenticating the items as well as poor descriptions and lack of honest disclosures of condition.

Creeds are never shown in station_85 's listings and this seller has enough experience with Coach to know how important they are. In my experience in watching sellers for close to 20 years, experienced sellers know what to show and what NOT to show in order to avoid showing the details that prove or disprove authenticity.

I agree. And even after having a bad experience with the original " station_85 " site owner at least 10 years ago and being contacted personally a few years later here at tPF (so at one time the site owner actually was a member, if only for a few hours or days!) several years later by someone who said he or she had taken over the business and read my comments about the original site owner and their Feedback record, the seller STILL doesn't understand, or is simply ignoring, the need for clear READABLE creed photos to back up their claims of authenticity, or of being honest about their items' condition.

The original owner's Feedback record was a nightmare, with such a long list of Negs and Neutrals that Toolhaus usually couldn't even load the entire page. My comments here about that go back to 2009. The current owner seems to care only about sales volume, and customer service has taken a backseat, as it does with many sellers we've seen who just want to be THE BIGGEST and maybe have their own tv show some day.

Regardless of changing circumstances, I still in good conscience could not recommend buying from STATION_85 unless someone likes to gamble. There are too many responsible sellers to give your business to rather than taking a chance on anyone with a spotty record and a poor history of keeping the customer satisfied.

As always, my personal opinion, based on a long Feedback history that speaks for itself.

I'm not sure, but it may be like the Legacy Small Slim Duffle Sac, which had one style number for the silver hardware (9326) and a different one (9328) for the gold hardware. Maybe the same was true for yours. Someone else may have more info.

Here's an instruction card for converting the strap, and a photo collage.

Thank you!! This is all so helpful. The silver v. gold hardware makes perfect sense. The style number I found on the Wayback Machine (9335) had only silver hardware, mine (9336) has gold, another reason I doubted my bag's authenticity. And these instructions are perfect. Thanks again!!:happydance:

hello, i hope you can help me to authenticate my impulse buying of coach mercer large satchel in grain leather because i heard the mercer would be discontinued.
i bought it from online seller, recommended by my friend. seems it's authentic, the code number on creed same as the style of the bag, but still i'm not sure about it. and i saw the ring handle for crossbody strap is on outside of the bag and not inside as seen on the website pics. maybe because it's from outlet and not retail store?
hope the pics attached are sufficient. thank you so much.

Post the name of the online seller and a link to the listing if it is viewable.
They changed the design of the Mercer at some point so some will have the rings on the outside.

Hi authenticators

Could someone authenticate this?

Anyone else have this clutch? Any thoughts on how durable the satin is or how roomy the clutch is?

Item: Coach 8949 satin clutch
Seller: mercari, Hannah
Link: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m80012829885/

Thanks!
It's authentic from 2004 but it's a lousy listing. There are no measurements and little about the condition.

There are others on ebay that may have measurements.

But I would ask for more information from the seller. If she's not responsive, you can either take your chances or find other sellers.

ETA: This is the same seller and listing on ebay. It has measurements:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-H04J...dD9E%3D&orig_cvip=true&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Thank you! When I click on the eBay listing it has it being about $20 more and sold, but it's still up on Mercari...

I messaged the seller but now I suspect she just forgot to delete the Mercari listing.

Hi authenticators, was there something wrong with my authentication requests? I made sure to read the rules on the first page before posting.
Nothing wrong with it. But for that style bag there should be a little white tag inside the kisslock pocket. The Authenticators would need to see a clear readable picture of the serial numbers from that tag.

ETA: usually BeenBurned will not authenticate anything from Posh Mark as the site never removes any reported fakes being sold through the site. I myself had a bad experience getting refunded for a vintage Coach that was obviously fake.
