Hi all. Sorry if I'm on the wrong thread. I just need some help. I just ordered this bag from the factory outlet website and noticed that the creed patch is different. There's no serial number. I know that this is just an outlet quality but I just wanted to know if this one not even so. Sorry.. I'm just in panic mode. This is my first time to purchase a purse online so please guide me. Thanks a lot.
It's authentic.

Coach recently changed its creed and they're not putting the serial number on them any more. (It's not just factory bags.) There's a tag inside the bag with the date/style information that used to be on the creeds.

Hi,
I am trying to sell my mother-in-laws Coach purse. I believe that it is a #9455 (black). It is in pretty good condition, but I am trying to figure out how old it is. I understand that the serial numbers before a certain date don't really mean much. The No. is 638-2599. The "creed" I think you call it that,
This is a Coach bag. It is made out of completely natural glove tanned cowhide, the scars, scratches, veins & wrinkles are natural markings characteristic of full grain leathers. Made in New York City, USA.

I would also like an idea of what I should ask for it.

Vintage Black Coach Basic Bag

The brass looks a bit tarnished where clips attach to rings.

Without seeing photos, all we can tell tell you that, IF it's genuine (and without photos there's no way for us to be sure) it probably would have been made some time between about 1980 and 1987.

We can't comment on, quote or guesstimate prices, please read the rules in the very first post in this thread. You need to look through Ebay's Completed listings for other Basic Bags / style 9455 from that time period with Made in NYC creeds's to see what they actually sold for in a condition comparable to yours. The original retail price would have been around $90, give or take a few dollars each way.

By the way, please write your own description. I recognize most of your wording from another seller. Your listing can be removed for this violation.

I have another one. small dark brown messenger bag. Same idea with twin leather straps and brass trigger clips attaching to purse. 6.5"x7" x1.5" No. 083-5848 made in NYC USA. I remember getting it from a garage sale in the 80's and it was used back then. I see some on Ebay but they have one solid shoulder strap and there aren't any dark brown with brass fittings. I'm going to post a photo with the next replay.

I haven't done a lot of forums so didn't understand the advanced and had a hard time finding how Purse forum uploads photos,

Mistakes happen when you're new and don't know or understand the rules. No problem!

BTW, welcome to TPF!

In the future, it would be a good idea to post pictures before listing any items for which you aren't certain of authenticity. Even if you think they're genuine, they might be fake and you risk having a counterfeit item reported and removed, thereby putting a ding on your account.

ebay rules require that sellers know items are authentic or they can't be listed. Since the basic bag is authentic, you don't have a problem but I'd hate to see a listing removed for a naive mistake.

But how do I know they are authentic unless I post? It's so confusing, especially with coach b/c as I have read there aren't any real rules. That being said, I am pretty sure my were authentic. :0)
