The year is at least 2 years too early for nickel hardware in this style. I've never seen an authentic bag with a K factory code that wasn't made in China and none this early. The curved front under the flap wasn't used until around 1999. Before that it went straight across like in the fifth picture of this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...420?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2343b1ca04
The grooves on the turnlock are the death knell. I'd be curious if you find any other mistakes.
You are just confirming my suspicions unfortunately.
Regarding the "K" plant I did some research and found reference to some bags made in the "K" plant that was open for a very short period in the USA, I did not bookmark them so I'll go back and try to find it. But that is not enough, the other factors are a bad sign. But it looks SO GOOD!
Oh well, going to let the seller know......TBC

It is scary when you find a fake that good. I know, I have two scary good fakes. I'd like to know what reference you found about the K plant. I found a statement that it might have been open for a short time in the US making mostly business and travel items.

Thank you!
Hubby is a chef, though he rarely cooks at home any more.
This was a trade-off for not dragging him thru the traffic to visit New York..lol.
Not too many dishes!
You're welcome! Ooh, I'd love having a chef in the family! (what type of cuisine?) It's been wonderful the last several years since we stopped having large family gatherings for Thanksgiving. One year we had to drive about 100 miles to my sister's house - the traffic was horrendous - it almost took us all day! Even though I have to do the cooking, we get lots of meals out of it.

Hi everyone!
I've got a three for authentication today:
This one's still on eBay.
Item: Coach 189-4336 Vintage Medium Thick Leather Satchel Purse Hand Bag New York USA
Item #: 271680533131
Seller: *zooangels*

Comment: Pretty sure it's a pocket purse.

I feel pretty good about both of these bags. I found them while thrifting last week and I think they're a basic bag and a city bag. (Both were altered slightly by the previous owners--arg!!)

I think this got buried, so *bump*

As I said, it's one of the most difficult styles to authenticate because they were so scarily well faked.

With this style, it's necessary to know the lining color that was in each of the various colored bags (different exteriors had different lining colors) as well as examining the other construction details.

In this listing, the seller's pictures just aren't clear enough to see what I'd want to see.

Are you the winning bidder? Have you received the bag yet? If so, can you please post clear pictures of the creed, the lining, the bottom and the side.

I will say it doesn't have any red flags but I'm not comfortable saying it's authentic based on the pictures shown.

ETA: Perhaps someone else has a known authentic version of this bag and can take a look at it.

ETA again: As an example of how "good" the fakes are, this is an example of a fake. But to non-expert eyes, it could easily be mistaken for being genuine.

(I'll also add pictures in case the listing (seller designerheavenplustjbs) disappears:

I only have a few photos of one 1443 that I'm sure is genuine and they seem to match the details of the bag in the original post, but the creed in that brown-trimmed bag is so worn down that's it's almost impossible to compare the two, sorry.

The first one is too big for a Pocket Purse and it doesn't look like it has a back pocket. I'd say it's a Convertible Clutch, style 9635.

The other two look ok.
