It seems ok.

The H plant code has been faked but this doesn't look like one of the bogus ones. Yes, it's a Rivington. But if you're thinking of buying it there's a chance it's been re-stained or re-dyed, I'm seeing some vertical streaks on the front pockets that aren't natural.
Thanks, BB and Hyacinth. I wondered if it had been treated with shoe polish too. I like the Rivington, I have one in bottle green. It's a great size and feels and looks different than other Soho's.

That's strange. On FF, the listing is coming up as removed. On Safari, I can click the link and it works.

I'll let others comment on authenticity.

Thanks BB and Hyacinth. I wondered about the streaks too. I have sent a message to the seller. I have a bottle green Rivington. I really like the leather and the feel of it. I have been having problems posting replies so this may show up about five times!!

Thank you Hyacinth! In the 1990 winter preview catalogue it shows the Saddle Bag as
*NEW* The style as # 9851, but it doesn't show that they were made in the 2 tone spectator colors..
Does anyone know when COACH stopped making SPECTATOR bags in the USA?
Thanks for all your help everyone!!!!:tpfrox:

They made City Bag and Court Bag Spectators and a few twill versions of other styles until maybe some time around 2002-03 although a few styles after that date were made with Spectator or contrasting trim, but the regular smooth leather Spectators were mostly discontinued after Coach brought out the Dakota and Sheridan lines in the early 1990s.

Are you referring to the placement of the seam on the bottom piping?

On another topic, do you think this pre serial number bag with front and back seams would have the same style number 9085 as the duffle sac?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-NYC-V...05&prg=11353&rk=4&rkt=6&sd=131341459282&rt=nc

Yes, the piping seam isn't in the right place.

As for the early duffle, it would have to be a very early 70s or late 60s version. The earliest pic I have is from the 1976 mini catalog and that shows the side seams lined up with the strap just the way it's been for the last 40 years or so.

Is J ever a valid plant for a US-made bag?

In case the above picture isn't large enough to read, I'm attaching (what I think should be) a larger version.

I've seen one or two *5J- and *6J- bags that are either genuine or that have fake outlet or Final Sale stamps or might have been fakes "returned" to a Coach store for credit. This fake Duffle Sac along with what Whateve mentioned also has a problem on the bottom of the bag. It's definitely fake.

Thanks. This listing needs extra help reporting!:graucho:

Comment: just confirming it's a fake before reporting

Confirmed!
That bag or another was already reported and removed after being posted here in September.

Comments: I don't know who sells and who doesn't here, but I was wondering - if you have rehabbed a bag do you disclose that info when you sell it? I know you guys hate shoe polish, but what about when spots (like ink) are painted over with acrylic paint or perhaps a bag has been redyed? I know there is one lady I follow always says she has reconditioned her bags - which look incredible I might add.

If would love to follow any of you sellers (if you can't state your ID here you can PM me) and perhaps become a buyer. I am looking for colors other than black or brown leather (I have plenty of those). Eventually I want a Coach rainbow like Whateve has. :graucho:

Thank you Hyacinth for that info on the spectator dates..I wasn't able to find the styles that I have in any of the newer catalogues, so that explains why... It makes it way easier to date them!!
Many thanks AGAIN!!

It's an authentic Helen's Legacy. I wouldn't consider it to be a large bag, it is more of a medium size. The duffle sac is a lot bigger, not a little bigger like the seller says. Technically it isn't vintage since it was made in 1997.

Not all sellers disclose what has been done to a bag so you have to be careful. Personally I would mention if a bag had been redyed.

Thanks for the compliment about my "rainbow"!
