Good afternoon...:D
Can I please get these two authenticated, they look good to me, just want to be sure!
And the key fob, when is it from?

1. Station bag 9" x 9.5" x 2"
2. Murphy 7" x 9" x 3"
The keychain looks good and I have it as style 7210 but there may have been other similar styles. (Beware that there are fakes of that style too. They usually have sloppy stitching and a much-too-large logo.) I'm not sure of when it's from but I'd guess 1999-2001-ish.

Venting.... Don't you just love how a seller knows ALL about a bag they are listing "Authentic, Beautiful, Excellent, Coach" blah blah blah... UNTIL you call them out for selling a fake or dyed/painted bag etc. Then suddenly they know nothing about the bag...they were selling for their girl friend etc !!! :busted

Inquiring minds want to know!!! Even if by PM!

I have a Monterey Hobo (Lightweights) in black...it is indeed much lighter and thinner than glove-tanned cowhide! Here's a link to her rehab, with a link there to authentication pics: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-665.html#post25099176

Twins...except mine is a beautiful taupe color. I went back and looked at your pics before and after...and I'm a bit envious. My bag was in good condition when I received it but I gave it a bath anyway just to freshen it up and plump up this lighter/thinner leather but I've been unable to get the beautiful sheen you have on yours. I've done all the same things...Leather CPR and Black Rock...twice each. It still feels a bit dry and is dull looking. It still looks dirty in this pic and others I took but it's not. Shadows maybe.

Any suggestions?

I have more pics and can post them but they all look the same. Do you think this color of leather just doesn't have the depth black does? I posted a couple of times in the rescue/rehab thread about the wrinkles in it. I even gave it a second bath...tried ironing it per Whateve's suggestion...it's a beautiful bag but I've become frustrated with it.

What also worries me is that Coach probably would have used 0520 as the style number, although they might have been as inconsistant about that as they were about everything else. Without having any photos of a genuine one to compare to, all I can go by is the creed and serial number, and I agree with Tetondeb, it's a wonky prefix and that all-around stamping impression just isn't right.

It also worries me that several style 529s from the same time period used a different creed wording but I don't know if it was because the two styles actually were made of differently-processed leathers. There's a "D8B-529A" here - and I don't remember an A at the end of a late-1990s handbag or travel bag serial before, does anyone else? - that says "...handcrafted in the United States of lightweight and durable weather resistant glove-tanned cowhide that is specially treated to withstand the rigors of travel". The 520 on Etsy just has the "variations in the grain" creed. (It doesn't help that I don't have much confidence in the seller of the "-529A" backpack either!)

I'd definitely avoid the one on Etsy just because of the creed. And the 1998 H plant creeds that seem genuine all have that slightly larger and misaligned H, not the one in the Etsy listing. But except for that it's totally understandable how anyone would think it's genuine, and I hate to report a seller for a fake when there's no way she could have known unless she's one of the hundred or so people who checks the Fakes Lists.

Hyacinth,
Debi found this catalog photo of a "520' so would that make a difference?

Thanks for the photo, but it's just not detailed enough to use for authenticating. For that we'd need either someone with a genuine 520 or a full set of photos showing all the hardware, lining, pocket and zipper placement, creed and serial number details, that kind of thing. Catalog pics are ok for identifying but not so much for authenticating.

Coach also had a habit of changing small details between the original photo sessions and the actual release or maybe a year or two into production, so catalog or drilldown pics can be misleading. We've seen dozens of examples, like the change in turnlock styles for the briefcases in 1996.

Thank you, that's helpful
