Please confirm alleged fake

Reg#0974-534

Item:VTG XL Jumbo Coach Crossbody Bag - Made in USA
Item#:181381714647
Seller:mousefeathervintage
Ebay URL: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-XL-Jumb...647?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2a3b3152d7

Comments: In addition to known issues with this registration #, creed is a mess, and the zipper is wrong.
Didn't we just see another fake with the same number? It says "marxings", is missing the 's' in the word "scars". The zipper pull is completely wrong too. Report away!

Again, laziness or in many cases, reading and believing some bogus "guide" without trying to find accurate information. There's one infamous (to me anyway) guide posted at Ebay that for a long time was a steaming pile of wrong dates and was usually at least ten years off on all of them. It looks like the "writer" (or in this case "copier" since it was originally copied almost word for word from another inaccurate guide posted at another site) took out some of the wrong info but some is still there, and unfortunately gullible people are still using it and referring to it.

So if anyone reading this is still using "mrharley47"s guide, please DON'T!
This guy told me that Coach has never made bags in Italy, only shoes. What a doofus!

Yep, more proof that it takes more to become an expert than an inflated ego.

I mentioned the number in a post here a day or two ago. I found it in a fake Willis I'd bought with an all-numeric serial number that I didn't realize was fake until I was authenticating another bag and wondered why the serial number sounded familiar.

But someone else mentioned that fake black Duffle Sac from mousefeathervintage within the last week, but I don't think it was an authentication request, she mentioned that she was looking for something similar. I don't remember if she knew that one was fake or not.

They made lots of colorful bags between 1995 and 1998, but most of them are small. They always made red. There are a few styles from the late 80s, early 90s that have gorgeous colors. I've seen the soho cafe bag and the Becket zip in some really pretty colors, like teal. There was a federal blue made in the 2000s in classic styles that is very pretty but very hard to find.

Thanks Whateve. I'd love to see some of those from the late 80's, early 90's.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Bag?
Bought at Goodwill today...
Approx. 9.5”w x 7”h x 3.5”d Strap drop 23.5”
1996 Lunch Box Zip #9991, yes? I'm thrilled to find one in British Tan.!

Lovely. So lucky!

Comments: I went ahead and purchased it! Thank you in advance for the help.

It's genuine but I don't have any other information about it.

Hey there! I've recently fallen in love with vintage station bags and would like authentication and approximate manufacture year for this one :)

Item Name: vintage brown station bag
Dimensions (in inches): length=8.75, height=9.5, depth=2, strap drop=17

Thanks!

It's hard to be exact about dates for vintage bags - mid 1980s probably, '85 thru '87. The color looks like Putty.

its hbag authentic?

can i know.. this bag madison gathered now on mark down price? for the large size.. its disc. from usd500+ mark down to usd 100+/200+=?

No, it doesn't look authentic. The bag in the picture doesn't look like a Lindsey #18643. The shape is wrong for a Lindsey. Even if it was a Sophia, the Coach insignia is too low on the bag and it is too big in comparison to the bag next to it to be a Sophia. I hope you can understand this. Next time post a link to the site if you can.
I don't think either bag in this picture is authentic.

Trying hard to learn about Coach, Cashin etc... but may have been stuck with a completly bogus bag from Ebay purchase I can show you the listing if somone could tell me if they think it is a counterfeit. Link below.

Actually TetonDeb AKA Sacs Magnifique

told me she did not even recognize the design of the bag from Coach archives. The photos are fairly explicit if someone would take the time to look? How else can I get an authentication? The seller is snippy, curt and defensive and essentially blew me off. Don't want to make a stink without cause. Stitching looks off, feeling of leather and I cannot find the style with the numbers! I am new here and would appreciate your help! Thank you , Melissa

Thanks! Melissa

All four of them look genuine.

BTW, the very first post in this thread explains to new users what kind of information we ask be posted in authentication requests. I hope you'll read it when you get a chance.

Welcome to tPF!
Thank you so much!

I'm sorry about not following the format -- I don't know how I missed that earlier. I'll do it correctly next time. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
