I'm glad she was apologetic. Too many buyers hurl accusations first then make all kinds of other excuses why they are "right." This buyer did the right thing.
Yes, she did do the right thing. It's a shame that that will not matter soon. Ebay's new policies regarding seller "defects" will soon be in place. Once that happens if a case is opened in the resolution center it will give the seller an automatic "defect" - no matter why, what or how it is resolved. (Too many "defects" and you lose status, eventually could be banned from selling) Sometimes buyers just want to communicate and the way the contact link works after a sale it almost always opens up a case. Always an uphill battle on ebay!

It's genuine and was called a Legacy West Hobo. By 2003 when this one and the other 2 you linked to were made, Coach had pretty much stopped making purses in the US except for a few all-leather styles. There's nothing suspicious about either location as long as the production dates match the appropriate plant codes.

Keep in mind though in your future shopping that ANY "Coach" with any of the Signature C fabric patterns on the outside that say on the patch that they were made in the United States are always fake. None of the famous C pattern bags were ever made here.

Thanks Hyacinth! I always try to refer to your salearea guides before buying anything or posting it here. I've learned so much!

There are several things off on this bag. The story patch matches my fake. The turn lock pad and pad above the backplate are off. Also, the authentic bags that I have or have had don't say "coach" on the strap pad. The fake one I have does.
Thanks for everyone for all the input!
I had a feeling it was not quite right. But there are a lot of things that are right and such subtle ones that are not. I did a search on ebay - there are many of them in past and present sales! I found a couple that had the "Coach" imprint on the strap, and many that don't - even more that don't show it so I don't know.
Can you check out the interior where the leather back piece was sewn on? Shouldn't there be holes where the turn lock prongs came through and were secured?

The Guide with the list of countries should be the one on Authenticity Guide Myths:
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coach-Authenticity-Guides-Facts-and-Myths-/10000000062607882/g.html

"Coach bags have been made in the USA, Italy (a few very expensive exotic leather styles are still made there), Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Hungary, Turkey, Thailand, China, India, and Vietnam. Coach will soon be making bags in the Philippines and other countries where they can find cheap labor, and they have made accessories like wallets in even more places such as France, Spain and others. Other than Italy, only the Asian plants except for Turkey and Thailand are still active at this time (2011). Production moved almost completely to China starting in 2000, and all Signature C fabric bags are only made in China and the other Asian plants and have only been made since 2000..."

Thank you Hyacinth, hopefully she is reading them now!

If I remember correctly, the prongs are between the pad and the main body and don't show.

Finally!!!! Wasn't sure where to post this, but I knew several of you had asked about it. Took me a while to get to writing it, then it had to go to Jed, then Coach PR for approval.

How Exciting Deb !! BON CHANCE!! Sheri

The Coach stamp on the strap pad worried me too but it's a changeable part and can't be depended on to be original. The strap itself looks cheap though.
Hmm, I found more issues but even more confused now.
I keep looking at the Beekmans on ebay.
My bag has TWO pen slots and some of the ones on ebay have THREE!
Either they changed this somewhere along the line or there are a few more fakes on ebay..lol.
Also, the credit card pocket is not centered on mine, and it is centered on the other bags I see.

PS - regarding the strap, it is not plasticy or cheap looking, it looks and feels "good".
I wish it were plastic-y - would make this whole mess easier!

There aren't any genuine Beekman pics in my file, so we need to wait for someone like Noshoepolish or Tetondeb who know the style details. And yep, there seem to be a lot of fakes, I reported two just from glancing through the Currents.

There are a lot of discrepancies on ALL of the bags on ebay.
Just some....
1) #301133284050 has 3 pen slots
http://www.ebay.com/itm/30113328405...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=301133284050&_rdc=1

2) #281294047757 has a round turn lock and NO horizontal stitching on the front tab
http://www.ebay.com/itm/28129404775...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=281294047757&_rdc=1

3) #121302571876 also no stitching on the tab and has the Coach imprint on the strap
http://www.ebay.com/itm/12130257187...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=121302571876&_rdc=1

4) #310903330917 looks exactly like mine in all the details
http://www.ebay.com/itm/31090333091...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=310903330917&_rdc=1

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH~~

Right? He's so busy he barely has time to check email! I think bringing Sara on will be great for them. She's a rockstar!

Tell her we'd love to have her here, and promise we won't drive her crazy. :D

BTW, if they ever make "your" Pony Express/Musette, see if they can make an extra-long strap available for purchase like they used to! I LOVE that style bag but the strap is only "crossbody" on munchkins.

(And RED. Gotta have it in Red...)

The second one is GENUINE. All older briefcases from before 1996 had rounded turnlocks and no turnlock tab padding or stitching. Please don't report any of these! And always ask before reporting them - remember, Coach often changes details along the way. This is from the Holiday 1993 catalog.

The third one looks ok too.

NO - I wasn't going to report ANY of them, I was just saying that there are a lot of differences.
I noticed that the ones with the round turn locks were earlier productions, thanks for clarifying!

Hopefully we will get more opinions on my bag.
I need to know if I should return it or not.
:crybaby:
