Weird that it has 2 hang tags?
Thank you!
I don't feel comfortable with it. The creed looks puffy and indistinct, and doesn't match other creeds from the same plant. The size and shape of the cartouche at the top of the creed looks wrong. The strap isn't the correct strap for the bag - it is too narrow - but it could have been replaced. On older bags, sometimes the hangtag separated into two parts, so that wouldn't normally be a problem but I don't remember seeing that in a bag this new. Since hangtags and straps are removable and interchangeable, we don't use them to authenticate. There could be other problems with this bag that aren't shown in these pictures. Based on the creed alone, I don't believe it is authentic.

Thanks for the quick reply. Also I measures the depth at 3" but I'm wondering if that is too narrow for this style.

I just saw the other pictures you posted in the rehab thread and I see at least one more problem. The turnlock isn't Coach. Now I'm convinced it is fake.

The depth of my court bag, measured at the widest part on the side of the bag, is 3 3/8". The panel at the bottom of the bag is 2 1/8. Mine is a newer version so the measurements on an older Court might vary.

ETA: I found another problem. Coach changed the styling of the Court bag around 2000. The front of your bag under the flap where it is rounded is like the newer bags, rather than like a bag that would have been made in 1997, as your creed suggests.

Can you explain why the turnlock isn't Coach? It looks just like two other Coach vintage bags I have.

I do see what you mean about the front under the flap. It isn't squared off; here's a beautiful example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-COA...265?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item20df85ad31.

Thanks again!

yes, that's exactly what I meant about under the flap. I think they changed it when they came out with the spectator version in 2001.
Here's an example of it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Authe...430?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3f2f7cf6be
The back of the turnlock on the inside of the flap on the fake has grooves around the prongs. A Coach turnlock is smooth on the underside. On some of the better fakes, this is one of the few things they get wrong.

Yes! I see it now! It looks like the prongs themselves are too small as well--on my real ones, they go all the way to the edge.
Thanks! I'm learning something new everyday from the experts :smile1:

I just checked my fake geometric bag, and the prongs are too short too.
Another thing you can check is the ends of the zipper on the inside pocket. The zipper should have stops on both ends and should go completely across the back wall of the bag.
You're welcome! Will you be able to get your money back?

have you ever seen one unused with tags?
No but if I'm not looking for the bag, there's no reason to look for one with tags.

Since you're interested in the original price (if you don't trust Whateve's estimate), search ebay for the same style and style number bag.

BTW, note that there's not necessarily a correlation between original price and current selling price. If an item was originally $398 and wasn't popular, you might have trouble "giving" it away. On the other hand, a $298 bag that sold out quickly and was very popular might sell used for $500.

It's all a matter of supply and demand.

Luckily, I was using my purseforum phone app while in the store, so when I got your reply, I turned around and put the purse back on the shelf. And I was almost at the register!
