I am also considering this one as a possible rehab project if it's cheap enough. Not sure if it's real and concerned about the seller saying its a "cashin era" bag. Wouldn't cashin era bags say "made in New York"?

Probably not, since real Cashin-era bags probably wouldn't have creed stamps of any kind. The stamps and then stamps and serial numbers didn't come into the picture until after 1974 which is when Cashin left Coach. A Cashin-era bag would never have a serial number.

The "Made in USA" stamp puts this in the Lightweight line from the later 1980s, probably a Shoulder Pouch, style 4025.

Most sellers who use it throw Cashin's name around as if it was a Frisbee at a beach party. And most of the time the bag and the style has no connection to Cashin at all, like with this bag which wasn't even made until at least 15 years after Cashin left the company.

ETA - Whoops! Sorry, I didn't see Whateve's answer.

Thank you whateve!! Didn't think it was cashin based on info I read on this blog!! This bag reminds me of a line they had in the mid '80s. They were drawstring buckets that came in brown and British tan (I coveted the British tan bucket)
You're welcome! I'm curious about those drawstring buckets. Most of the drawstrings I can remember are from the 90s.

At least we agree with each other! GMTA

Thank you for confirming my doubt. I've read a lot of info on this blog in the last few days. It's a bit of a blur, but the cashin part just didn't add up. Any thoughts on rehab....is it possible?

Like I said, the color is super faded. Conditioning isn't going to bring back the color. I have a bag in this color. The leather is super soft. I didn't dye it because I didn't want to mess with the softness, but I might. I'm also toying with the idea of giving it a Rit bath just to refresh the color. The blue is lighter than a standard navy. It is really pretty on the inside of my bag.

I don't know if you could get rid of those stains. IMO, if you get it, you should realize that dyeing might be required to get it to the condition you want.

I remember being at the mall with my bestie and staring longingly at the British tan drawstring. It was between my graduation in '81 and marriage in '89. I could be totally wrong, but I don't remember my husband being in the picture. Anyway, there was a drawstring bucket, a zippered bucket and a turn lock saddle bag in the window of the store.

Well the style in the listing was made in the late 80s, so maybe that is the one you saw.

Hi,

I am desperate to authenticate my cartier love ring purchased from eBay before the end of the 14 day window I have to return it. I have attached a photo of it! Please help!

The Lighweight line came out in 1987 and included 3 different sizes of Drawstring Sacs, and at least one size Saddle Pouch was available through the late 1980s along with other styles of saddle-type bags like Riding Bags and Saddlery Bags. The zippered bucket was probably the Duffle Sac which has been around almost as long as Coach itself, so you could have seen them together any time between 1987 and 1989.

Both. The number is on the fakes list. The leather on the black one especially looks horrible!
