Hi I posted the following to the wrong page yesterday.

Since posting, I called Coach to see if they had either bag's serial numbers in their system. They said they could not locate either one. That the british tan color's style number is associated with a Coach brand pant. Does that mean that these bags are counterfeit or just so old that they aren't actually in the system.

"I'm trying to find out if these bags are authentic before I buy. I've searched purse forum to see if these bags have been authenticated yet and my search came up with no results.

Seller claims that they are Coach Becket Zip.

Listing at following sites with photos:

The last part of the Salearea Coach Guide on Authenticity Myths explains why it's not only a waste of time but can result in extremely misleading information when you call a Coach rep on the phone - and just so you know, the Customer Service reps on the phones are NOT Coach employees, they work for a call center just like like the people located 6000 miles away who are supposed to answer your questions on tech products. They can look up only a style number, NOT the whole serial number, and like Whateve pointed out, that number means nothing when the bag was made before 1994.

Please read the Salearea Guides and you'll save yourself from being misled by incorrect and inaccurate information from uneducated and unqualified sources:

And based on your post, you need to read the Guides on Creeds and Serial Numbers too:
Serial Numbers:

Creeds;

Your bags HAVE been authenticated - here.

A SERIAL NUMBER WHETHER "CORRECT" OR NOT CAN NEVER PROVE BY ITSELF THAT A COACH IS GENUINE. And how is someone supposed to "authenticate" a bag without at least seeing photos?

Yes it is.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Bag?
Bought at Goodwill yesterday.
Approx. 14”w x 7.25”h x 2.75”d Strap drop 6.5” as shown
Made in 2004, #4448, does she have a name?
Any and all info is appreciated...thanks in advance, as always!

There's no information in my files on that one at all, but I saved a few photos of an almost identical Sateen Zoe style 4449 and also with an outlet stamp, so maybe both of these are MFF bags.

Could someone please authenticate this for me? The creed is 552-9760.

It's black leather and measures about 11 inches across, 7 1/2" high and 3" wide. I have no idea why part of the bag is brown. :confused1:

Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks.

This is an authentic companion bag. It appears to me that it was originally brown and someone dyed it black.

That bag is definitely dyed, the iridescence on the outside is due to whoever dyed it not properly conditioning it after applying the dye. (Not to mention they didn't bother to finish the job.) If you condition it, that should go away.

A friend of mine won this. She is new at buying Coach. Yes, I should have asked prior to her bidding, but would still like to check authenticity. I am encouraging her to register here.
Thank you so much!
It's authentic. It's a Soho twill tote from 2004.

Thanks for the detective work, Hyacinth...there are a couple of 4448's on ebay's completed listings. And I just looked at 4449 and it seems completely identical to me! I had no luck on wayback...certainly wouldn't be there if MFF. Thanks for all your efforts!
