Hello!
Wondering if you guys could help me confirm the authenticity of this vintage Coach purse. I believe it is from somewhere between 1980-93. I'm sorry the creed pic is not clearer, it's hard to take a picture of in such a slim little bag. Says 'Made in the United States' and the serial number is 029-0026. I think it predates the more modern creed that Coach uses. Just wanting to make sure it's genuine. Thank you very much!

Seller is sure its authentic..
I see.. seam on bottom binding on the side seam instead of center
the strap is extra long (which could be a replacement... but..)
the creed isnt as finely stamped
the attachment for buckles are different (yes, one is a repair but the other is wrong as well)
and I have a feeling I already got this and it was a fake, now resurfacing.

I'm pretty sure we've seen this one before. That font on the creed looks fake and the buckle mount is the wrong shape.

The font used in the serial number is also wrong, and that J7R- prefix has been used on quite a few fakes with Made in USA creeds. I don't have any photos showing it in a genuine bag so far.

another auction I have questions about.

the name helens legacy goes with the creed but the bag in the full photos look like a standard large duffle ..9085 bag..... seller says its all the same bag as the creed..
but I dont think so
on a large duffle the 9085 strap falls half way on the bag... like this bag

on helen's legacy the strap drapes a few inches longer than the bag.

Straps can be changed. I don't see anything that would make me think the bag is fake.

The Duffle Sac should have a 36-inch strap and the Helen's Legacy a 50-inch. I suggest you ask the seller to measure the strap end to end. The measurements in the listing match the Helen's Legacy.

I think that when this bag was new, the buyer could have asked Coach for a shorter strap. I think they did that back then.

Thanks... I dont think its a fake.. just thinking the seller used photos of a different bag for photos...
but asking about the measurement of strap is a very good point

Thanks

Thanks a lot Whateve!
Is it genuine?

If something's fake or maybe fake, we'll say so right up front. When we give something a Coach name or ID that means we feel that it's probably genuine. If it was fake it wouldn't be a Coach or deserve a Coach name. Fakes don't deserve names although we sometimes can come up with some very descriptive ones - but they WON'T include the word "Coach", or a Coach style name or number.

Thank you for reposting the listing and seller information. It's a real timesaver not having to go back and look for the original post.

With wallets (both men's and women's) we advise buyers to use caution. Wallets are "well-faked" and often look very close to the genuine versions.

The embossed imprint stamp on the front of the wallet is slightly "off", the stitching isn't as neat as it should be, and it's missing an interior heatstamp logo imprint. Without having it in hand, it's hard for me to prove but my guess is that the "leather" isn't buffalo leather and probably isn't even real leather at all.

But the props are all wrong. The tissue and box aren't like authentic items. The font on the tissue is wrong and the box isn't a type that Coach has ever used. All the paperwork, brochures and tags are fake. The tag on the lower right in pics #2 and #3 is a type of tag that Coach never used and the Coach price tag shown in picture #3 shows a style number of 6A06. That style is a women's slim envelope wallet that looks like this:

Whenever I see BB, Hyacinth or Whateve take a seller down like this, this comes to mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWqGNITWIEc :roflmfao:

This thread is to post bags you know are fake. If you want to get a bag authenticated, post it here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-818914.html

This bag is a version made for the factory stores which is why it doesn't have the horse and carriage.
Thank you so much! but what the difference, are these bags for factory stores worse, cheeper etc? do you suggest not to buy it?
