I found a coach purse but cant find anything to authenticate if it is real or not, it sure feels real :) Nice quality if it is indeed a fake. A messenger style bag serial # is M4S 7414 it measures approx. 10.5 inches across, 4" deep and about 10.5" in height, any help would be great, I wanted to list on ebay, but need to know it is not a knock off, I don't have any experience selling purses :D Thanks! Wendy

This bag would be a counterfeit based on prior discussion. See below. (Hope my linking & quoting works)

The second one's fake. The shape of the M is wrong, it's actually an upside-down W and that was never used by Coach. In fact the entire font set is wrong. The serial number M4S-7414 is on my Fake Numbers List and is an invalid number since style 7414 is a Mercer Tote that wasn't even made until 1999 and would never have a 1994 date code.

In addition to that always-fake serial number, it has another glaring problem. Those wrinkles all over the of the bag that look like elephant skin are NOT normal and you'll never find them like that on a genuine Coach. They're actually stretch marks and they're a sign that the leather has been damaged probably by being overstretched during processing to try and soften the leather.

The ONLY place you should even see stretch marks on a genuine Coach would be in places where the leather is actually stressed AND stretched, like the bottom corners when a bag is often overloaded, and even then stretch marks are rare on genuine Coaches. But NO Coach will EVER have them all over the bag like yours does.

If you bought that recently, demand a full refund. It can't be sold or traded anywhere in the US. And please don't donate it to any resale shop or non-profit.

This advice that was qouted from one of my previous posts still holds:

Please, always check the Fakes List before buying or bidding.

Item: Coach Willis Chestnut Brown Leather 9927 Shoulder Crossbody Bag
Listing number: 261250438687
Seller: vans.1793

Comments: Please authenticate these Coach handbags. TIA :smile1:

1- The "Willis" has not only a plant code N that may or may not be ok for a US plant in 1994, but it also has the wrong style code. Granted, sometimes a new plant might make mistakes in the codes but there's no way I would bid on it. The J**- prefix would also scare me away. The top of the outside back pocket also seems too high.
I don't know whether it helps but this is where vans.1793 purchased the bag:

The same seller, thepartswarrior sold this "Coach."

I'm pretty sure that the keychain is fake too. The Coach lozenge imprint should be centered.

Although these aren't the exact same style and Coach made several differing versions, the lozenge is centered on them. Compare your fake keychain to authentic ones pictured below.

I agree that you should tell the seller you want a refund, direct her here if necessary and if she balks and you're within 45 days of the purchase, file a SNAD dispute.

Thank you ladies for confirming what I thought, unfortunately I bought this at a resale shop, so no refund, the good news is I only paid $8 for it :p. Very nice quality, so I guess I now own a nice leather pocketbook. Thanks again.

Resale shops are subject to the same Federal laws against selling counterfeit goods as any other individual or business. Selling counterfeits is illegal in the US. Period. No exceptions, no excuses.

Maybe it's only $8 but what about the other fakes they may have sold to other buyers? If a store doesn't have a refund policy and can't be bothered to try and find out if a bag is genuine, you may want to look for another resale store.

SEWDimples, the seller that " vans.1793 " bought that "Willis" from shows some interesting details in their listing photos.

The turnlock is wrong - the back of the turnlock doesn't go through the leather like a real Coach turnlock does - there's no easy way to replace it. The stitching and detailing on the area of the inside pocket above the zipper is really bad. The strap is also a mess, both the stitching on one end and the rivet by the buckle that would NEVER be on a genuine Coach strap.
