People are bidding like crazy on this - already up to $122.50. Yet the seller has an authentic Kristin listed that no one is bidding on. What does this say about people's taste? Seller probably knows the difference too.

I know! Authenticity notwithstanding, that bag is absolutely hideous. I hope enough people report it that it gets pulled before the auction is over.

COMMENTS: I am the seller of this auction this auction was for a coach sample bag my aunt used to work at coach and they gave her this bag anyhow she gave it to me to list on ebay and it sold and the buyer received it yesterday and they do not think it is authentic I do not think they fully read the auction and read that it was a sample bag and I believe this is why they are now questioning it so I was hoping you ladies could look at it so I have a second opinion to show this buyer. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks =)

I'll let someone else comment on the details of the bag as I'm not that familiar with this style. However, I did want to mention that I've seen that same sample tag in a bag I bought that was also pre-production. My bag did not have a completely blank creed. I have never seen that. I would have thought they would more likely use a creed without a serial number. The style number on the paper tag is correct. Additionally, "Sitoy", as shown on the tag, is a manufacturer of Coach bags in China.

In my opinion, you provided plenty of pictures to show that this bag did not have a normal creed with which to authenticate. The buyer should have read the auction before she bid. With any bag sold on ebay, there is no way to know with absolute certainty it is authentic. If the buyer isn't comfortable with this, she should only buy directly from a Coach store.

I agree with Whateve. We've seen plenty of obvious and suspected fake sample bags on Ebay especially from sellers like RANDIESSTUFF but there's nothing at all about this one that would make me think it's fake. The buyer is a damned fool for not reading the auction but short of you standing behind her and shoving her nose into the computer screen that's something you have no control over.

And she's incredibly lucky that instead of buying a fake POS because of her laziness, she actually got a great GENUINE bag instead. If she wants to return it, you can re-sell it to me in a heartbeat, I've wanted one of those for ages and the price she bought it for was criminally low!

Found at Goodwill yesterday...my lucky streak continues!
Approx 8"w x 7"h x 4"d Strap drop 16" to buckles
Is this a Small Shoulder Bag...early 80's?
Despite missing the hangtag, this bag is in remarkable condition...beautiful dark navy blue!

Any and all info is greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

The only thing I have is a 1983 catalog showing that style, it's genuine.

Coincidentally, there's been discussion on the ebay board started by a seller who was accused of selling a fake Chanel bag because the bag was lacking one of the necessary hallmarks used to determine authenticity.

I made a suggestion to the OP, in no way accusing her of selling a fake but suggesting that in situations like this, having a bag professionally authenticated (costing about $7), which allows you to state in the listing "this bag has been professionally authenticated by ___(whichever authentication resource)___. Feel free to contact them with the item number to confirm."

Doing this reassures the buyer that she's getting the real deal and protect you as the seller in the event of a dispute. (Choose an authentication resource whose findings are accepted by ebay, paypal and credit card companies.)
