Comments: Taking the fact that she says it's from 1977 with a grain of salt, but was more curious about the picture of the creed. It looks like the wording/numbers are raised off of the leather rather than stamped/imprinted into it - could be that's perfectly normal, but it just gave me pause.

Thank you!

It's genuine, and from that time period although maybe a few years later. The look of reversed stamped leters is just a trick of the light that sometimes happens with creed photos, the real stamping is completely normal.

Please authenticate - I think these are both real, but I would like to be sure. I LOVE the handles on this bag!

Thank you so much!

The style and number aren't in my files but might be from the Bonnie's Legacy line from the early 2000s, and probably would have been called something like a Bonnie's Legacy Leather Business Tote. Compare the straps and the double seams around the edges to a Bonnie's Legacy Suede Bucket bag with a very close style number 9424 shown below.

Both look genuine.

Comments: Good bargain on this bag because brass push button closure was broken. Would like authentication & advice on closure:

  • Creed is difficult to see: Made in United States #011-9030
  • L-12", H=8", D=2"
  • Does she have a name?
  • Assuming Vintage; but is approx year known?
  • The button closure won't stay; assuming there must be an internal spring missing. Would Coach perform a repair?
As always, many thanks for your expertise!

Just found this little bag which would seem to be a Casey if authentic.

I really don't know if Coach can replace the Springlock, since the bag is probably from around 1990 and they may no longer have that type of lock in stock. I suggest asking at the Rehab and Rescue Club thread at the main Coach forum and include a closer photo of the Springlock, maybe someone there will have experience in having that type of lock repaired.

The style was called an Avenue Bag and a similar one was talked about here just a week ago:

Thanks for your assistance. I'll wander over to rehab & rescue.

Comments: I believe I received a fake black Basic Bag in the mail today. I have shot comparison shots with my British Tan Basic Bag I had authenticated on here. Right out of the box I had concerns. The hardware clips are too small and feel cheap, the metal loop on the purse for the strap to clip onto is smaller, stitching is different on the side and the strap is 4" shorter than the strap on my British Tan Basic Bag. The strap also feels cheap. This was purchase on Etsy, seller guarantees authentic or will arrange for a refund.

I would appreciate your opinions before I contact the seller. Thanks

The strap on the black one looks like a replacement. I don't have any photos of the Basic Bag sides or strap mounts but the rest of the bag isn't showing any red flags. What year was the tan one made?

ETA - Wait for my next post, I think I know why they're different.
