I'm not BeenBurned, but they've been using solid linings with solid-color bags for years now. All my leather Kristins have solid color linings. Right now most of their linings regardless of the outside materials are solid.
You're right about those "buying guides". Don't depend on ANY that claim to tell you what "proves" a Coach is real. There's no such thing and no simple answer to whether a bag is genuine. And as you noticed, almost all of them are seriously outdated or just plain wrong.
My Siggie underneath all my posts shows exactly what I think of those worse-than-useless "guides".
Thanx for response Hyacinth! I'm new to buying Coach decided to try to collect a few. I started reading some forum posts here for a guide. I've read some of your posts and find them very helpful. Thank you for the info.

I read through a lot of those 'buying guides' before I realized they contain almost no information pertaining to the vintage coach bags I've been looking at.
The Salearea Guides have several that are just about classic and vintage Coach, and all six have a lot of information that covers the pre-China bags. None of them tell how to "prove" a Coach is genuine, but that's something that is too complicated to explain in a guide. But they include a lot of red flags that can help you avoid buying some of the fakes.

The style number is 6148 and it was called a Monterey Flap Suede, made around 1999-2000. Keep in mind that this is a stiff rather than a soft suede.
Searching Ebay for "6148,monterey" brought up only One Flap and one Hobo in suede, but they do turn up occasionally.

I have only recently begun my Coach collection and I know I should have come here first, but I didn't and now I am concerned I might have gotten a "too good to be true" deal from eBay. Here is the bag I purchased (has not yet arrived in the mail, expecting it tomorrow):

The seller is new and has 0 feedback, which normally would make me not bid at all, but I bid low expecting to be outbid quickly anyway. I was surprised that I "won" the auction at all, and the few notes we exchanged back and forth (over unclaimed PayPal payment, not authenticity) made me think she is nice and seemed sincere and honest.
I saw no obvious red flags to my untrained and inexpert eyes, so I am tossing it here for inspection.
Please tell me if I got a bargain (other listings for the same bag are selling for a lot more!) or if I was too naive and gullible to be allowed to eBay in the future. Thanks!
