Hi there,

Please give your advice on the following items:

Item: Coach Station
Listing: 161010373958
Seller: walcar6968
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161010373958?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Comment: Is the creed clear enough?

Much appreciated!!

First one is fake. Besides the number being on the fakes list, the font is wrong, and it sure looks like it says "This is a Coacy bag"! See that wrinkle on the back? Coach leather doesn't normally do that.
And in case it disappears, here's the creed:

Do you already have the shoes in your possession? If so, please post pictures of the side label on the box, the soles and the inside stamped marking with the size/style information. The size style info might be a bit hard to get at. It's usually on the upper near the front of the shoe.

Thank you- I don't have the shoes yet, but I will post this information when I get them.
You're welcome.

Ah, the Willis does seem very popular and I have seen high prices for them. I do have a question about a Willis I saw. I noticed the serial on this posting is actually flipped so the the No is on the right side and reads backwards. I've never seen this on a coach bag so wonder if it's even possible....

Remember, the serial number was stamped separately from the creed and a much smaller piece of equipment was used, probably something like a large changeable Date stamp that used to be used in many offices and businesses. It's possible that it happened accidently and the factory's Quality Control inspector missed it. Most of the time if that kind of mistake was spotted at the full-price store the bag would have been sent to the outlet. Too bad the seller didn't show more of the area around the creed so we could see if there was an outlet stamp.

Several months ago, there was another incident of a Coach mistake. This one wasn't an error on the creed, but instead, was right smack dab on the center front of the bag. IMO, it is a mistake that should have been caught!

Hi !

I was wondering if I could get a second opinion on the authenticity of these bags?

Item: Coach Willis
Listing number: 161007483280
Seller: trapgrettajetta

Item: Coach Willis Bag
Listing Number: N/A
Seller: Ms2SweetVintage (Mary)

Item: Coach Court Bag
Listing number: 321108671998
Seller: station_85

Thank you all in advance!

1- both the Willis and the coin pouch keyfob look ok. However someone has added extra holes to the strap on the Willis - note where the strap is buckled - but at least it doesn't look as if they cut the strap like some owners do.

2- the second one seems ok but is about 3 years away from actually being "vintage".

3- we always recommend that buyers check a seller's full Feedback record at Toolhaus.org - ESPECIALLY for this seller station_85 and others like him/her. 16 Neutrals and 12 Negatives in the last 12 months is nothing to be proud of. I have personal experience with this seller going back years and I would NEVER recommend them. In fact I won't even authenticate their items because all too often it seems like what's in their photos doesn't look like what you eventually receive, or the item's condition is Not As Described.

In fact their record of Negatives and Neutrals is so long that the Toolhaus page actually times out before the full list can be loaded. This truncated page only goes back to 2010, my own experience goes back at least 3 or 4 more years, so they've been building up this record for a very long time:

Yep, there's no excuse for that one. Even the counterfeiters are more careful than that.

Hyacinth, Thanks for the explanation. There is so much to learn about how these creeds/serial numbers are created. The only pics I have from the seller are close ups and I didn't spot the outlet stamp. I recently purchased a bag that had the outlet stamp and it was all the way at the top of the leather pocket so it is possible that there could be a stamp that is not shown in the photos.

BeenBurned, wow, that is a really bad mistake. Having a mistake on the creed is one thing, but I wonder would someone carry a bag with such a blatant mistake? I think it would likely be mistaken for a poorly made counterfeit.

Exactly! It was a listing at the time it was found. Someone posted here and I saved the picture because it was so unusual a find.

Other than the upside-down "Coach" plaque, there was nothing wrong with the bag. The creed was also fine. There was nothing to indicate that the bag was fake however, I certainly wouldn't have purchased the bag and definitely would never have tried to resell it since it would be sure to cause a buyer to file a "fake" dispute!

ETA: I've found the post from the time that bag was listed. AFAIK, the seller buys her items from the outlet and I don't ever recall seeing a fake in her listings. My guess is that they sent this bag to the outlet because of the mistake and she probably bought it super cheap. The listing is still viewable after 2 years, but I can't tell whether there's a bullet on the creed.

And this is the listing that was questioned:

It was a small part of the bag but due to the dark cloth, it's very visible. It's a lovely bag, otherwise. Yea, the creed is too shiny to see much. I'm surprised Coach didn't just destroy the bag. If it was my brand, I would.

I wonder if coach bags with defects will ever become collectibles in their own right, just like coins with defects (because of their rarity) are much more valuable than perfectly made coins.

There were probably hundreds of these. I saw them at the outlet. They weren't discounted more than the bags that didn't have the defect and there wasn't anything on the tag to warn the consumer that there was a defect. Some people were buying them because they thought they were unique. I think if just one or two bags had this problem, Coach would have destroyed them but because it was a significant number, Coach didn't want to take the loss. I was disgusted with Coach at the time.

Wow a few hundred, that's QC at its worst. And it is disappointing that Coach did not warn buyers. Says a lot about the company. At least the seller on ebay for the listing did clearly note the defect.

Item: Monterey Zip Hobo 6146 (Turkey, 1999) Suede and Italian Bridle Leather
Seller: Savers $25

Comments: I found this bag at the thrift store yesterday and I am pretty sure that it is genuine. I found a similar bag from Coach on the wayback machine (December 2000) but not the exact same number and not in suede.

Please give an opinion about authenticity and do you know what the color is called? I've been calling it olive green and brown but I don't know the official names, thanks! This bag is very heavy, and dirty!
