More of an FYI than anything else. I just received this bag...left positive feedback based on initial impression, then realized that this bag has been painted!!!!! There is paint on all of the hardware and the middle of the panels don't match the edges of the panels where the paint stops OMG!!!!!There are even brush strokes...this entire bag was painted. I've contacted her to see what she says. I would definitely beware of this buyer depending on how she handles this. Any advice would be appreciated!

Update for those who care :) She's agreed to refund my money plus return shipping. I am so sad though... I LOVED this bag and fell instantly in love with it...until the light hit it.

I'm glad she is doing the right thing. Hopefully, if and when she relists it, she'll disclose that it was polished/painted/dyed or otherwise treated.

Thank you so much Hyacinth. I called ebay and they said I can relist based on the reply from you and the ebay board. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.

Thanks again for your input.

It's genuine. Unfortunately a lot of inexperienced Ebayers think that wide font on the serial number always means fake - it DOESN'T. That K3H- serial stamping is exactly right for that plant, month and year and I've seen quite a few other genuine bags with the same creed prefix. Up until the last few years each Coach plant stamp used their own creed and serial number design and you can't judge the authenticity of one plant's stamp by another completely different plant. They all have to be analyzed based on what that specific plant used.

The other details on your bag are also correct including the ones that the fakes makers always get wrong.

Please refer Ebay to this post. It looks like someone at the Ebay Forums has also said it's genuine so I hope you don't have any more problems. Here's the URL for the post number:

We'll see...this was her most recent response...I'm starting to get a bad feeling.

"I can do a refund to your payment via PayPal but I don't think I can add to it (do you know?). Actually, I have to figure out how to do it via PayPal. I don't think I'll be able to do it now, but probably tonight from home. I am sorry I am at work and not supposed to be doing this anyway. I'll send you a message when I refund your money and how much. Please when you send the purse back, send me the tracking number. Regardless of this unfortunate situation, I was honest in describing the purse. I don't appreciate you imply that I was dishonest. I'll trust you that you will ship the purse back as we are both dealing as civilized adults. Thanks, and wait for my message tonight.

When she issues the refund, it will only allow her to refund up to the full amount of your payment. She can't add to it.

What she can do is to "send money" to you for the amount of the return shipping. Thus, the refund and reimbursement would be done in 2 different transactions.

Oops! I called eBay Trust Dept. and told him this bag had been authenticated by this board and the purse forum. He told me I could relist so I did. THEN I get an email stating:
"We recently received a report questioning the authenticity of a Coach handbag that you had listed from your account. After the removal, we received confirmation that you had posted your bag on the Purse Forum with regards to receiving authentication for your item. We noticed that you had indicated that if you received several confirmations from the forum that your bag was authentic that you could relist the item on eBay, however this information is not accurate.

Although we do refer members to the Purse Forum to get a second opinion on the items if they are unsure of whether the item is authentic, eBay does not accept authentication from this forum. If you wish to have an approved authentication for your bag, we strongly advise contacting the manufacturer or an approved Coach authentication company. Another option for you is that you can contact www.mypoupette.com about your bag and if they confirm the authenticity of the bag we can allow you to relist the item at that time.

We apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding that may have occurred with this removal, and we appreciate your diligence in ensuring the item is authentic."

I'm not a happy camper right now! Same eBay dept but two different responses.

DO NOT USE MYPOUPETTE. MP has been going down the toilet for the last several years. They've been taking payments for authentication services but not performing those services. They've had dozens (of not hundreds) of chargebacks filed against them. Search TPF for posts.

I recommend authenticate4u.com as they have multiple authenticators, specific to each brand they handle. Other authentication services have one "expert," and since no one is expert in everything, mistakes are often made.

A4U charges $7 for an email authentication. You can put it into the listing that it was authenticated by them. And when you send A4U a link to the item, if they're contacted to verify that they authenticated it, they'll confirm.

Item: Coach British Tan Crossbody
Listing number: 160984976818
Seller: riveramelis

Comments: You can zoom in on the creed as the picture provided is high-res. Serial is five digit and missing "No"- 202-15. Going by the Salearea guide, "Any Coach item that has only 5 or fewer digits in the serial number, and / or is missing the “No” in front of the number, is almost 100 percent certain of being fake." So I am guessing this is fake.

I don't even have to look at the photos. Fake.

Check Daria48's Fake Serial Numbers Guide at Ebay too

BTW, if the seller removes the fake hangtag and the name Coach from the listing description it would actually be legal to sell since other than the hangtag, it doesn't seem to say "Coach" anywhere on the bag. The creed just says "This is a Leather Ware bag..." which isn't a copyright violation.
