Yep - not only do the pictures verify that Netlawyer's bag with that same serial number is fake, but this time they didn't even bother using the right style number. The Court Bag should have style number 9870, NOT 9966. Very fake, sorry.

You need to contact the seller for a full refund immediately. If she questions it, refer her to the start of the discussion yesterday on that serial number or directly to this post.

Hi all -

I contacted my seller about the L6Z-9966 Legacy Zip and he responded by arguing that other bags had the same serial number and that someone could not tell a fake from photos of the zipper and the zipper pull. He also believes that finding the same number on different bags proves his is legitimate rather than the other way around.

He sent me links to a couple of bags. One had a US creed and a C plant code, so no obvious issue with the plant code there. But he also sent this one:

Item:Classic Vintage COACH Black Leather Cross Body Messenger Bag~Hand Bag~ Purse/GUC
Item Number: 111016055200
Seller: high-end-look-again
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-Vin...essenger-Bag-Hand-Bag-Purse-GUC-/111016055200

I would appreciate comments on this bag as I am sending him these posts to try to educate him on Coach creeds and serial numbers. I also explained to him the information contained in the creed and that the discrepancy between the style number and the bag shows this bag is fake too.

Thank you in advance for your help and also any advice you can offer as to next steps. I haven't reported this bag yet, but will.

I'm a little nervous about one detail on that wallet especially since that style is very easy to fake. You can wait for more opinions but I personally would not bid on it. JMO.

Also among other problems I have with that seller, she's also famous among authenticators for not authenticating items properly, and I've seen quite a few fakes and incorrectly described items being sold through EDROPOFF

BTW, please read the very first post in this thread for the correct format to use when asking for authentication.

Thank you for your quick response, Hyacinth. I won't bid on it in that case. I am looking for a new wallet, preferably in pink so I will keep looking!:smile1:

Hello everyone! My bag that I won the other day came in - this is the bag that the seller sent the same creed # to me and TetonDeb. Okay, my bag has a different# so fingers crossed it's authentic.....is is a heavy bag....here are the links to the posts from FEb. 26th:

I took LOTS of pictures - it is one dirty bag - the lining is a mess but the exterior looks like it will clean up fine.....concerned about a silver/nickel zipper pull on the outside and other hardware looks like a dull brass? Also, inside zipper pull doesn't look like my other Coach bags? It looks very much like Whateve's Sheridan Roswell from this post, so I am hoping......:graucho:http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-re...lassic-pieces-here-292004-4.html#post23902047

Thanks so much ladies!!!

Oy, sorry to keep coming back to this, but should the plastic zipper be cause for concern? Thanks again!

The following info on zippers is from this accurate guide: http://reviews.ebay.com/Authentic-Coach-Vintage-and-Classic-Leather?ugid=10000000062579034

ZIPPERS
The YKK zipper "rule" has even less validity with older bags than with newer styles. Coach originally used US-made Talon zippers on their classic leather bags, even putting an "industrial-style" heavy duty version in some of their casual bags. While some 1980s and 1990s styles also used YKK, after Coach moved some of its plants to Italy, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Turkey, Hungary, and Mexico some of those plants may have used local brands from the countries the items were made in. Speaking of Coach plant locations, Coach also had several pilot plants operating in both China (mid-1990s) and Thailand (2000-2003 for mostly business and travel bags) before switching production completely to SE Asia.

And yes, some classic Coaches really did have plastic zippers.

Re the bags and their lack of authenticity, wait for information from the "classic experts" on educating your seller, nicholasthrifted.

While we often recommend trying to work with the seller before dinging a seller's account with a dispute, nicholasthrifted's lack of appropriate response indicates that perhaps a dispute is the route to go. You certainly did you part and YOU did way more research than the seller did.

Based on his ebay seller ID, I assume he procures his items by thrifting, yardsaling, and otherwise finding deals for resale. But in doing so, it's the seller's responsibility to verify authenticity before listing those purchases for sale. Clearly he didn't do that.

Sellers who make honest mistakes but handle themselves honorably (i.e. admitting the error and refunding their buyers with profuse apologies) are those about whom we have good things to say. OTOH, your seller's defensiveness and turning the case to make you the "wrong" one is the wrong way to handle it.

My final comment on this seller is that it's too bad you already left positive feedback. You definitely should leave an update indicating that the bag was confirmed as counterfeit and the seller is in denial.

JMHO.

ETA: The comparison listing from high-end-look-again is also counterfeit and certainly helps prove the case of the invalid serial number but further, that seller high-end-look-again has other fakess, also with an invalid prefix in the serial number. (Yet another seller who didn't do her due diligence.

ADR as the date code prefix: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-Vin...085?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item1c305bc1f5

P6D as the date code prefix: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-USA...443?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item19d917516b

Holy cow!! Great example of a seller with the same Z plant code!! ^^^^ This seller, high-end-look-again has at least 5 current listings for fake Coach bags with invalid serial numbers!

BB is correct. This bag was made in 2002 so it isn't really that old. My 1999 version also has a nylon zipper for the inside pocket.

The listing referenced is fake. It has the style number of the Legacy Zip but appears to be style number 9965. Everything we have seen with this exact number is fake. You just happened to get the one that had the correct style number for the bag. Finding the same style number on other bags doesn't prove that his is authentic. It would only do so if we found it on other Legacy Zips that had no other problems.

ETA: I can't find that listing anymore. It appears to have been removed by ebay, proving that they recognized it as fake.

Hello again- well, I received another bag in the mail this morning and it is FAKE....this will teach me,:shame: I didn't have it authenticated first before bidding (or paying) because the seller did not show a pic of the creed or list a serial# and I knew you gals couldn't authenticate without it. So, took a chance. I figured I would post this anyway as a teaching tool for others. (You would have thought I might have noticed the extremely long and awkward zipper in the seller's photos in the midst of my bidding frenzy )....live and learn...I will notify the seller.

Contact the seller, tell her you want a full refund and if she doesn't comply, file SNAD.

This is really interesting. Here is the original listing for your bag: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Vinta...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Your seller bought it for more than she sold it!

I am comparing it to mine and it looks exactly the same. I think it is authentic.
