I think I may have come across a fake. It says Made in Korea.
Item: Vintage Brown Leather COACH Purse Handbag Bag
List: 321073262764
Seller: gmc_2012
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Bro...764?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4ac17530ac

You're correct. That's one of the few Coach rules for which there are no exceptions. Coach never made bags in Korea.

ETA: Someone might want to look at the Willis in this lot listing from the same seller. Is the serial number font "off?"
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-Coach-H...790?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4ac17d00c6

Not just the font - the whole turnlock tab is noticeably crooked, and the "pillowed" area of the tab isn't the right shape or size. I doubt if it's real but I'm not really comfortable reporting it.

forgot to add this to the post above..

It's a Basic Bag.

I hope you do know that you can use the EDIT button to add more to a recent post made in the last 15 or 20 minutes? It's a lot easier to figure out what you're referring to when everything is all together. Three separate posts on the same subject within 3 minutes aren't necessary.

so sorry, Hyacinth - I didn't know about the edit button but will use it in the future...sorry it was so confusing. :(

Check the Fake Numbers List - betcha the first 3 digits of this serial number are 308.

Please report the problems and the fake number.

I couldn't really read the number but now that you mention it, it sure looks like 308-9875, which is on the list. Thanks!

The whole plant code system is something I'll never figure out completely. I've seen a genuine bag from 1996 with an L code. Coach used the M code for Costa Rica as early as 1994 and I've seen a P code from the same year. They also recycled codes from plants that were permanently and even probably just temporarily closed.

Don't ever expect plant codes to make sense.

Thank you. I will continue to be confused. I feel like I can only authenticate purses that have plant codes I'm familiar with, i.e. the easy ones!

There's no way to authenticate that bag based on the pictures in the listing.

In fact, all the seller's listings are lacking in pictures and since ebay gives sellers the ability to post 12 free pictures, there's no excuse for not taking advantage.
Thank you BB! I agree, more pictures would have been nice. The stitching and strap look off to me, but I can't say for sure.
Your help is always appreciated! :D

Item: Beautiful Near Perfect Condition COACH Brown Purse w/ Leather Trim. Awesome!!!
Listing number: 181079792996
Seller: purplekaleidoscope

Comments: TIA

Here's a very small pic of Coach's photo of the Belted Ergo Sig Medium Tote 11278 and a larger version of the same pic that someone else copied and put their own watermark on but which is Coach's website photo. There are apparently some close fakes in that style. There's only one pic at tPF and it doesn't help much:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-re...ur-ergo-pieces-here-156441-3.html#post5244696

The differences:

Colors look different. The hardware on the front is a bit too small. But the biggest thing is that the C pattern is too big. The fake only has 3 full rows of Cs above the stitching at the top of the lower panel but the genuine bag has 5.

The creed is also badly sewn but the size difference in the pattern seems to clinch it.

I'm concerned about others of purplekaleidoscope's listings also. Though her pictures aren't that great, this one seems to have equally sloppy stitching on the creed and the lining looks like it has the wrong texture. The centering of the pattern is ever-so-slightly off, but it IS off:

And for this listing, although I can't find any record of 11417, both 11416 and 11418 are leather bags so if there's a style 11417, it would probably be leather.

I'm not comfortable with any of the current Coach listings from purplekaleidoscope.

ETA: *sigh* I just found this completed listing for a definite fake from the same seller:
