Hi, everyone, I would really appreciate it if you could authenticate this bag for me. I just purchased it but forgot to have it authenticated here first (still new to the forum)! :nogood::shucks: I thought it looked okay, but now am having second thoughts....Thanks in advance!

This one's fake. Style 9988 was a Saddle Bag, and it wasn't intorduced until Spring 1997. The serial number in this one shows 1994. The wavy inside zipper is a bad sign too, Coach would never release a bag for sale with a wonky zipper. Actually, both fake Saddle Bags have wavy inside zippers.

That's a highly faked style and so far you've found at least two of them - the one in your previous post is fake too. "S" is never a valid month code. And the "elephant-skin" creases at the top and all over the flap of the bag are always a red flag.

Again, use the Salearea Guides to analyze serial number codes, and ask here before bidding.

Thanks so much! I've learned a lot since the early days of buying this stuff. I think at least one of those was in a large lot of bags that had mostly real ones. I knew the blue couldn't be good just because of the "S". The black one was less obvious to me since that 1997 thing I hadn't learned of yet, but I know now. Darn, now I hafta start a search for one all over again.

I agree, it's fake. To the right of the listing (above the description) there's a 'report item' link. You can also post it in the fake coach thread here and we will all help report it. Of course, please wait for more responses but I am 99% sure it's fake also.:smile1:

I also agree that it is fake and I am 100% sure. That creed is totally wrong. The year is wrong for the style, this style was never made in the US, the style number has too many digits and is not correct for the style, etc.

ETA: I posted it in the Hall of Shame.
