Comments: I've never had the pleasure of seeing this bag, it looks real, Can someone tell me if it is and if at all possible the style or name?

Thanks!

There are a few things about this bag that worry me.

The stitching quality seems a little "off". Look at the zoom pics of the tabs holding the straps, and especially at the way the piping is sewn along the sides and bottom. Granted, Coach piping isn't always perfect with the exact same amount of leather all the way through on each side of the stitching, but this one just looks rough.

The "fixed handle" design worries me too. There aren't many other styles from that time period using that kind of handle design - newer Book Totes may sometimes use it but stiff non-moveable handles don't show up in many other older styles. The handles just don't seem like a Coach detail, but it's still possible. I know some older styles had that sort of handle but I'm not sure if Coach carried it through to the late 1980s or early 90s.

ETA - I notice that you bought one with an NYC creed that looks ok but that handle looks a bit more substantial. If the coral one is genuine it would probably be from almost the same time period. The red one looks like a Standard Tote style 9680 from maybe 1983. It looks like it had been discontinued some time before 1986. The coral one is similar to a Small Tote from the same line but the handle mounts are different and the creed is a few years too new.

The serial and creed seem to indicate a bag made in the late 80s to early 90s, but I can't find anything in my files or catalogs. Not proof either way since my catalog collection isn't anywhere near complete, but there also aren't any similar styles. Usually Coach would introduce more than one bag that shared styling details with others brought out at the same time. Here there's nothing similar in any other style. If it's real it would have to have been from some very short-lived line that was only in production for a few months and maybe only made it into one or two catalogs.

The color is VERY unusual for that time period. Coach usually stayed away from "feminine" pastels and I don't remember any genuine styles from that time period available in any shade of coral. The closest shade to it was a color called Terra Cotta from early 1993.

It may be ok but there's no way I'd give more than a 50-50 chance.

I am fairly new to tPF and a new Coachie, so please forgive me if I leave something out! I found this bag at a secondhand store and thought it well worth the few dollars to take a chance on (though it will need some TLC). If you could help me at all with authenticity/age/anything it would be greatly appreciated! (And if it's not authentic - then I've learned something and I'm not out much money. :p )

The bag measures roughly 10 inches (across the bottem widest part) by 9 inches by about 4. I'm bad at measuring so it could be off by as much as 3/4 of an inch though.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Inside pocket with the creed on the bottom of the pocket flap:

Best photo I could get with my iPhone of the creed. It says made in Mexico, and those blurry first two are K8-N-9966.

It looks ok, Legacy Zip from 1998.

The Salearea Guides here can tell you how to understand many Coach serial numbers, among other things:

WOW well thanks Hyacinth, when I get this I will analyze it more. BTW, my red standard tote ended up being painted, totally disappointed, I returned it, but you're right, this one reminds me of that tote. Thanks for your research....I guess I'm possibly out $40. Happy Holidays, I feel it's a honor when you guys respond, I know silly but true, Thank You!

thanks So Much Ladies!!!! You Have Helped With Quite A Few Bags. Unfortunately I CouldnT Get Another Picture Of The Creed. The Woman Flipped Out On Me. Apparently I Was A Jerk For Asking For The Serial Number. I Know Coach doesn'T Authenticate. She Was Just Saying
that If Coach Won't...Then No Other site Can. Because Of The Reaction, I Passed On The Bag. Seemed like A Shady Reaction.

I think you dodged a bullet. If she has such a fit about a legitimate request for a serial number and/or another picture, imagine her reaction if you were to buy the bag and find it to be SNAD.

Very few items are OOAK and there WILL be another.

Hi guys!
I am looking for some help on these 2 bags for a friend of mine.
She is selling them for a friend of hers and would like to know about them a little more before she decides if she keeps them or not,

The Navy bag seems pale but its just the photo.

Also, the little black bag do look like a few ive seen in my catalogs but the serial reads 2525, and I dont have that anywhere in the little I have on my side, her friend said she bought the bag new in about 1980 or 81.

Would anyone have the name or the model? Im pretty sure they are authentic but it never hurts to check!

Thanks and Merry christmas to fellow Coachies :)

I can't help on the first one but the second one looks like a basic bag #9455. If you read the Salearea guides, you'll see that the serial numbers in bags made before 1994 don't indicate the style. They are just unique serial numbers.
