AUTHENTICATE this COACH

DO NOT BID ON THAT BAG. I'm almost 100 percent certain that it's fake.

The creed patch photo is unreadable but the patch itself isn't cut with perfectly straight sides and the patch leather looks thin and cheap. The patch stitches aren't squared off at the corners, and not only is the Carriage emblem noticeably crooked and not correctly positioned, but none of the other Cambridge styles in my files even HAVE a Carriage logo!

Here's a listing for what looks like a similar style but with a clear creed photo and NO Carriage emblem. Compare the differences, like the big difference in the design of the inside pocket right above the creed patch.

I'm worried about the length of the zipper on the Patricia's inside pocket. It may just be that 1994 was the style's first year and the zipper may have been modified shortly after production since my 1995 version has the longer zipper that extends seam-to-seam on the pocket. But the look of the serial number worries me too, the 9s seem strange and the underscore under the "o" in No is longer than other bags with J4C- prefixes that I've checked. I can't be sure about that one, sorry.

As for the Madison, please read the Salearea Guide on serial numbers. The creed wording probably changed a bit over time.

Are the details off on this purse enough to ask for a refund on it on the grounds that the purse is a fake? Or, do I just need to chalk this up to a learning experience and eat the cost?

Reporting something as fake is a serious matter and it's something I'd want to be very sure about. I'm not sure that it's fake - I just can't confirm that it's genuine. There's a big difference.

The number is a bit hard to read but I searched for 16586 and 16536. One is a Signature Swingpack and one is a Straw Tote. Neither are Poppys.

And a Sateen bag should never have a creed that says it's made of leather. Sounds like a fake to me.

Katev's 1996 Patricias Legacy bag is from the D plant and is 2 years newer so it really can't be compared with your 1994 bag when we're talking about small details in the creed stamping. Coach changed those details constantly especially during that time when the entire creed wording and formatting was being changed too. The 1996 creed is totally different than the ones in the 1994 bags.

The ONLY thing your bag's creed details can validly be compared to is another 1994 Pat's with J4C- as the prefix.

And it's not the zipper itself I'm comparing, it's how the ends are attached to the pocket and whether or not the zipper extends all the way to the pocket's vertical seams. This was discussed here 3 weeks ago, please look carefully at the photos:

I do see what you are talking about. The zipper on Katev's bag doesn't extend all the way to the vertical seams either, so that is what made me think that perhaps your suggestion that it was on the first Patricia's Legacy design might be true. Jessi found some pictures of a 1994 bag, but it was D plant
