Hi there!
I would love to know if this bag is authentic before purchasing. It is a really good deal, but that makes me wonder if it because its a DUD :) Please let me know if you need any additional photos and I will get them! Thanks so much
I am so sorry but I don't know the name of it.
Looks fine.

1- It looks like a genuine Duffle Sac, probably made between 1988 and 1993.

2- also a Genuine Duffle Sac. But like many sellers, her memory is playing tricks regarding the date she bought it. This one was made in 1995.

Hyacinth,

Thanks for the reply! I'm actually not all that familiar with vintage and classics, I will take this opportunity to retract my earlier statements and provide more detail.

1) 9" x 5.5" x 1.75"

2) Now that I've had time to look at other bags, the handle just seems to be well worn. On the other hand, the serial number seems a little odd in that the first three characters are more widely spaced. Is this normal?

3) 10" x 9.5" x 4" - My question on this is the seam pictured at the bottom. Is the excess material and stitching quality normal for a bag from this era?

Again, thank you!!

1- genuine, but I'd need measurements to identify the style

2- I'm not sure what you mean about the handle. How do you think it differs from other Willises?

3- The same basic question as #2 - what construction details look suspect? And just how familiar are you with classic and vintage Coaches?

!- I'm not quite sure what style this one is. With older styles it usually takes photos of the side showing the strap and attachment, plus any inside and outside pockets as well as the front, back and creed stamp, along with measurements. There weren't that many different shapes and many styles were just size variations of other bags with slightly different details. If the strap is sewn right onto the bag it's probably a Dinky Bag from the early to mid-1980s.

2- Variations in the details of older bags were perfectly normal. The handle does look pretty worn though. The other details are fine for a 1995 Willis from a minor production plant.

3- Overlapping piping wasn't uncommon in older bags either. Older leather bags were hand-assembled and there was a lot of variation - older Coaches were NEVER perfect.

I strongly recommend that you read and Save the six Coach Guides I wrote for Salearea that are posted at Ebay. They include a lot of details about older Coaches that aren't found anywhere else, and unlike some other Guides, the information is up to date and as accurate as six years of research can make it:

Hi! This is my first post:smile1: I just purchased this bag. It was offered as authentic but Im starting to think it's not. The strap ending (I've never seen one that's not rounded) and the where it's attched to the brass look funny to me.

I only have these pictures. I don't know the style or have a reg # yet. I wi know more once it's delivered.

Please use the format given in Post number 1 of this thread, we need to see the original sale page or auction listing. And we need a clear copy of the creed AND serial number.

Then contact the seller IMMEDIATELY and tell her you'll be returning the bag for a full refund including shipping. There is no such thing as a Coach Bean Bag creed, any purse that says that is fake.
