Thanks to ALL the fPFers who have posted such valuable info here!

After reading ALL 540 pages (whew!) over the last few days since I joined, I've made a few important discoveries like the dreaded "bean bag" that fooled me a few years ago, along with a few other suspicious numbers and plant codes in my database. Once I start asking for authentications, I'll group the suspicious ones together.

Last, but not least, I was about to ask if anyone had a color chart of leather colors on earlier bags, when I found that Hyacinth had in fact posted several on the Reference thread. Yeah!

Thanks again to EVERYONE!

You're welcome! We're glad you're finding so much useful information. :smile1:

(I probably shouldn't tell you, but these 540 pages are only the most recent. There are several THOUSAND more saved in the Archives. :faint: But you can probably use either the Search feature or the Pick The Authenticators' Brains feature if you need to go back that far.)

I haven't been on this site for a while so if I am posting this in the wrong place I am sorry. I wanted to buy this on ebay but I basically have two questions. My first question is does anyone know the name of this coach bag. It looks kind of like a diaper bag since it has handles and a long strap for the shoulder. I want to search it in other colors before I bid on this black one. Also does it look real to you? Thanks a bunch :)

I don't recognise it, maybe someone else will. Like with all authentications, it's always a big help to see a clear readable photo of the creed patch and serial number and it's something we almost always need to see. If you can ask the seller to email you a photo or to add it to the listing, we can take another look.

It would also help to see one of the clips at the end of the long strap.

Hi hyacinth, yes I think this a COACH POPPY SIGNATURE LUREX PUSHLOCK SATCHEL BROWN/GOLD .. Yes I will ask again my friend to take more photos.. Thanks again for your help ....

That's what I thought the style might be but I wanted to confirm that.

In the photos it looks like a purple color, and I could't find any purple ones on Ebay so that worried me. But all the ones listed also show a long fabric strap with a stripe, and 2 hangtags, but those things aren't in your photos.

I had the seller post a picture and it looks like it says F14871 but when I google that I can't find any info on it.

We don't ever recommend using Google as an authentication source because you'll often find as mant fakes as real ones - in fact the first one listed on Google is fake and the style is different.

It MAY be an authentic Daisy Signature Multi Tote but there aren't any other valid listings to compare it to, and the only photo that seem to be of a genuine bag is on Amazon but is taken from Coach's photo files and doesn't show any details other than just the front of the bag.

All I can say is your photos look like they may be of a genuine Daisy Multi Tote if that's the correct name but because it was made for the Outlets, pictures are hard to find and someone with pictures or the actual bag would probably have to look at it to be 100 percent sure. I don't see any red flags that might mean fake though.

This is more of an educational question. I have a vintage Coach Courier bag, which is what this one is supposed to be. For some reason, this bag doesn't seem authentic, but I'm not quite sure why. Something about the seaming or the stitching or something is just off, compared to my Courier. Mine is black, but it's not the color, something feels off about this one. Is it authentic or no? Thanks!

It's almost impossible to spot older fakes if they're made well and copy the right details. I think what's unusual about this one is that it looks like the seams have a lighter contrast stitiching instead of matched to the leather. AFAIK Coach probably didn't do that on their classic or vintage bags but older bags could have been repaired or re-stitched, or maybe the seller had used some kind of cleaner or conditioner that lightened the threads, saddle soap can sometimes do that.

All I can go by are a few photos in old catalogs so I'm not comfortable casting doubt on an unfamilar bag without more evidence. And Coaches made at different times and different plants often had slightly different details.

Thanks Hyacinth! The ol Coach connundrum eh? It's always like this, except when it's like this or this or this! ;) I'm surprised to learn that Coach never used lighter stitching on their tan bags because it seems like I've seen quite a few lately like that so that would indicate that the edging was more than likely restitched or something was used on the bag to lighten the stitching?

1- maybe ok but there's no way to tell. It looks like a stock Coach photo but I've never seen it and have no idea what the style number is - could be an Outlet or Department store style

2- fake style and strap. Invalid serial number

3- fake - would like a creed photo but the Carriage logo is the wrong color. Off-center C pattern, and real Coach straps don't show wear like that. Realy bad stitching on the strap mounting tabs too

4- HORRIBLE fake fabric, fake creed patch with bad stitching, fake hangtag, style # 1444 belongs to a mini Sig Soho Pocket Flap

5- not enough photos

6- crappy off-center pattern, cheap leather, fake Carriage plaque, fake inside zipper pull, credit card slots aren't sewn correctly

Thank you Hyacinth!

Hello! I posted earlier about a listing of multiple bags, and I was given the green light on those, but now that I'm selling a few of the bags I have no interest in, I would love to get confirmation on these two bags specifically, as I would absolutely hate to sell a fake, or misrepresent it in some way. I'll give each bag a seperate post.

Name: Coach Scooter bag:

Notes: The serial is unreadable in these photos, but the creed is B6D-9893, it's rather worn. I want to think say that is was made in 1996, but would I be wrong thinking that?

Thank you!

I almost never say "never" since I don't have 30 years of uninterrupted photos or catalogs and since there are always going to be variations not just from manufacturing but from how the bags are taken care of. Older and vintage bags were also more likely to have been sent back to Coach especially to replace worn piping and maybe a lighter thread was used for the repairs. Who knows?

Newer fake items with the wrong color stitching are a lot easier to spot because there are more photos of those styles available so something like a fake black wallet with white topstitching where it shouldn't be is pretty obvious. Older bags, not so much.

Notes: I understand that most coach wristlets don't carry creeds or serial numbers, and this one likewise does not. I'm a little worried about the made in india tag, though.

Thank you again!

It looks ok, and yes, the 6 after the first letter is the year code.

Ok. And Coach has made accessories in a lot of places including India.

Anyway, except for Korea, a fake would be much more likely to have the location of a known Coach manufacturing location on the tag instead of some place most buyers have never thought of.

Thank you so much for all your research I very much appreciate it! Love this site :)
