1- yes, probably a Basic Bag, mid-70s

2- either the Salearea Creeds or Serial Numbers Guide mentions "i" and "n" sometimes slipping through on genuine bags. Everything else looks ok.

Thank you Hyacinth! I remember reading about the N sometimes sneaking through and thought I had seen it on one of the guides for I as well, but wasn't sure if I remembered correctly. Anyway, good time to go through and re-read the Salearea guides. There's a ton of great information in them and always good to keep refreshing one's mind :)
Again, thank you!

Forum is not letting me quote! I wanted to comment on the link that Bratty1919 posted in post #8021. The bangle was in question. I know Hyacinth & BeenBurned both commented and I wanted to quote those also but again the forum is not behaving for me! I looked at that auction and the seller doesn't actually state that the bangle is Coach. The wording does lead you to believe it is however, so who knows if the seller did that on purpose or not! I'm wondering if anyone is reading it like I am? Maybe I'm totally wrong too, but just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I was thinking the same thing too, and it reads more like the seller is implying that it IS Coach. Maybe not enough to qualify as SNAD if it's not, but who knows how Ebay will see it? I'm not getting a "Coach" feel from that bangle though.

Hi, can you please tell me if this bag is authentic? I am not familiar with Coach, but I've always liked the Willis bag. I can't make out the serial number, so I hope the experts here can.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It's actually not a Willis, it's a Station Bag, which is smaller and doesn't have the dowel on top or an outside back pocket. The Station Bag style number 5130 is in the serial number. It's probably genuine.

Thank you so very much for the super quick response. I've been searching for a Willis and I've seen the 2 different sizes and didn't understand the difference. Thanks to you, now I do. :)

I was just directed to repost this here, vs., where I posted this afternoon. So OK, here it is again.

Re my bag - Hyacinth has been very helpful in suggesting what this might be, but recommends noshoepolish as the "final word" on Coach case authenticity.

This case came from an indirect, wealthy uncle who clearly didn't take the best of care of the leather. He traveled a lot and his wife doesn't recall when or where he got it; he's deceased. When I went to the Coach store the staff examined it and said they believe it's authentic (I know they could be wrong); they gave me tags, a dust bag, and a replacement strap. Their conditioner seems to have improved the touch of the worn parts of the case, but hasn't improve the worn appearance of the leather. The sewing and other construction aspects are very nice overall; I can't find any manufacturing flaws.

The case is referenced on the creed as being "handcrafted in China of a lightweight and durable weather resistant glove tanned cowhide." No. K5S-0532. It is black - worn to an almost brown in areas on the front (latching flap and pockets) and more the original black leather on the backside (one open pocket). Inside are various pockets and a center zip close section. Zippers have the YKK (again no guarantee). It appears to have nickel hardware, which is why Hyacinth thinks it could be a prototype.

Reading this forum has now made me curious: Is this an authentic (and possibly unusual) Coach briefcase? See "Attached Images."

The strap and hangtags do not belong on the 0532. The 0532 has a thick leather strap and a single black hangtag. So if you ever sell it make sure you specify the strap is a replacement.

The bag appears to be ok.
