It's genuine, but it's from 1999, not the late 80s. Also check the entire description, the seller mentions a few problems.

Thank you for your help. Do you think its worth the money even with the scratches and tears described?

It depends on what you're going to do with it. I don't think it's worth buying to re-sell. If you're buying for personal use, can you live with worn-thru piping and a missing "foot" on the bottom? It's your decision - Stewardess Bags aren't especially rare and if you're reasonably patient, finding one in better shape may be pretty easy, but you may have to pay more.

I'm glad you can still get a refund - take it back.
The J codes in all the Made in US bags I've seen are all in confirmed or probable fakes. J was a China plant code at least as early as December 2001 - I have 2 Mercer bags with J codes from that month - and the code in yours is for April 2002 when "J" had already been assigned to the Chinese for at least 4 months.
Both OK, including the names.
Reporting probably won't get the second one removed, but just be warned .
1- The bag looks ok but I can't help with the keyfob, sorry. Coach has been making similar styles for more than 20 years but none that I remember with a trigger-type clip, or any with such a LARGE clip. It's possible the keyfob may have been put together from several different items.
2- Looks like a genuine Large Daypack
3- genuine Multi Zip from 1995
