Really? WOW! I was getting thrown off by the beginning of the serial saying N2 instead on No. Like (number), and the tag had no stitching around the outside and is just raw edged...but if you think it's real I'm getting it. That's fantastic. Thank you so much for your help.

Look closely at the serial number, it DOES start with "No" with the o underscored. Digits on serial numbers can look different depending on wear patterns and on how the light was hitting them when they were viewed or photographed.

Older hangtags didn't have stitching, and hangtags should never be used to authenticate bags anyway since it's so easy to change them. Never base opinions about older Coaches on what details appear on newer bags. Details on every part of Coach bags including creeds, serials and hangtags change constantly. There are almost NO consistent "rules" about what should be there and what shouldn't, except for the "never made in Korea" rule.

It's a genuine Mercer Zip from 2000. The "i" month code is unusual but since that plant had probably just recently started production, I don't think it's a problem. And yes, sometimes Coach DID carve their names into every piece of hardware on the bag, I recently looked at a genuine bag from their Business and Travel line that has every piece of hardware stamped including the tops of the rivets.

As for the fabric, Coach never really describes their fabrics and contents. The catalog just calls it "European twill" but it feels like a nylon fabric to me.

Mercer Zip, thank you so much! It feels like nylon to me too so I'm hopeful that I will be able to get the faint stains out of the back! Do you have any idea what they called the pale blue color or approximately how much it originally cost? If I'm asking for too much just say so - thanks again!

P.S. At least you know that I have been paying attention to all those valuable "pearls of wisdom" that you authenticators so graciously share!

Thanks, it's always good when I know someone's paying attention! :D

The color was just called Light Blue. The Wayback Machine from some time in 2000 lists the price as $138. And I did find one catalog page that listed the fabric as Nylon Twill.

To Hyacinth- Thank you so much for your time. I'm so glad I found this forum and for someone like you that can help. I had no clue but I'm really happy I have a good find after all.

Comments: I'm thinking about purchasing this purse and debating about which seller to buy it from. I just want to make sure they (or at least one of them!) are authentic before I decide to make the purchase.

The bag is authentic. It's a hamptons tote.

I'm pretty sure that the keychain attached to it (not the hangtag) is fake.

Thanks, I put a keychain, I had around, on it. I was just wondering about the bag itself. do you know why most of these bags have the suffix IR5656,
I know this has the outlet bulleye. but the others on ebay have that also.:thinkin:
Thanks Again

Both look okay to me. Other opinions are welcome.

Thanks:smile1:

Where are you seeing "IR" on the creed? I've enlarged a the creed and it looks fine to me.

If IR is on the tag, the bag may have been a store return and if there was a perceived problem, "IR" probably indicates that it's some type of irregular bag.

Welcome to tPF.

The bag appears to be okay and I've never seen the seller with fakes but I'd prefer that the listing showed a creed pic but there isn't enough time.
Thanks SO much....i took the chance, I have a huge crush on the bag. I just got this one a few days ago for my sister...do you know anything about this one? It is EXTREMELY heavy, i was surprised...

So far I love this forum as I just developed an unhealthy urge for beautiful authentic bags...

There's no way to authenticate that listing and as a "powerseller," brandnewera-123 should know the importance of using her own pictures and showing multiple views and angles.

The first picture is a stolen stock photo and the second picture, even if her own doesn't show a legible creed. In addition to the creed, we need to see back, side and a clear closeup of the horse and carriage logo plaque.

Hi Hyacinth, BeenBurned & all,
Here's more picture of the bag. (Thanks to BeenBurned for the guide, coz Im still new here)

That's all the pics she gave me.

- Browse thru Coach Homepage Website but cant find the colour as shown.
- Visited to 2 Coach Boutique in Singapore to make sure, still cant find the same colour. However, at times, Spore Coach doesnt carry the same items as in US.

Seeking your expertise on the bag whether it's authentic & should I get it.
Thanks.
