I am totally baffled. I have both a gray and a black Garcia legacy medium flap shoulder bags from, I believe, 2008. The style number on both is 12654. I like them and have been looking for the amethyst that was also made in that style. I thought I had found it on eBay, where there are two listings for a "berry" shade. I figured they just didn't know the actual color Coach called it. The bags look exactly like mine. But I just noticed that the style number is different. It's Z17203 on both listings. Any idea what's going on here:

Another related question: One of my two bags has a serial number as follows: "F0893-12654. I understand that an F before the style number means that it was made for the factory outlets, but what does an F at the beginning of the serial number mean?

The F at the beginning of the serial number indicates the month code that the bag was made. A=January, B=February, etc. So your bag was made in June.

The "Z" bags seem to be re-makes that Coach is making for the discounters, such as Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom's Rack, etc. In addition to the "X" stamped on the creeds, the Z lets Coach know that the bags weren't bought at their stores and are ineligible for warranty or exchange at Coach.

Great info. Thanks so much. I sort of had a feeling it was something like that. But geez, these two sellers are asking prices that are comparable or more than for the original bags. In fact, I know that this style went very quickly to outlet and was selling for as low as $150.

Thanks also for the information about the F0893-12654 at the beginning of the serial number on one of my two bags. I guess the O8 after the F is the year. What would the 93 be then?

Coach hates ebay and resellers. If the buyer called Coach and said she bought the bag from Ebay, Coach is known to lie and tell people that bags are fake even if they are authentic.

Unless a bag has a known invalid serial number, one that Coach never used, they can't deem a bag as fake without seeing it. (And even then, Coach employees are so inept at recognizing authentic bags that I question whether they'd know in person either.)

As for the bag being made in China, Coach has been making bags in China, Turkey, Costa Rica, as well as several other countries for approximately a decade.

And over the years, dust bags have changed too. The bag you sold originally came with a satin white dust bag.

Clearly, your 2-feedback buyer doesn't know as much about Coach as she claims to and again, I'd recommend you refer her here (or to the ebay purse discussion boards) where she can voice her concerns.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, EBay decided in favor of the buyer! Unbelievable. No one could/would tell me the criteria they based it upon. Still waiting for the bag to be returned to me. Very, very disappointed in EBay's lack of support of a reputable seller. This was, and hope it still is when I receive it back, an AUTHENTIC beautifull handbag. My opinion remains that this was a case of buyer's remorse by a truly nasty person.

Did they say they found in favor because it's fake or just because......? If they are deeming it fake, they won't allow you to relist, however if the return is granted for buyer's remorse, you'll be able to relist.

When this is all over, you should post the buyer's ID on the BBL thread as a PITA buyer who makes false accusations of "fake" when it's really just buyer's remorse.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this buyer.

Found it 2nd hand. It's leather (smell test!) and the buckle has weight to it.

The pictures aren't clear enough and there are some pictures that we need to see.

Please request a clear closeup of the horse and carriage logo and a picture of the creed.
