The lining looks wrong. This is the way the lining should look in a Lexington bag. Black on black is hard to see, but notice the word Coach inside the plaque.

Wait for other opinions, but I don't think it's right.
thank you. i'll wait for others to weigh in, and of course i'll examine the lining when i get the bag. the bag i own already is black, has a black lining exactly as in your photo, and was made in italy. was the lexington bag in fact made in u.s. as well as in italy? (i'm assuming the one i have is in fact authentic!) at least now i know the name of the bag.

you're right, the lining does look different, although hard to say with the photos. i may have hit my first real fake, oh well. do the sellers usually know what they're doing in a case like this?

comments: i had only 12min to bid on this item ending soon, and i suspect it might not be authentic, but was willing to take the risk. i have two other similar bags, both made in italy, this is made in united states and the creed number is J8Y-4182 (its hard to read, so the seller sent me that info). but the J8Y prefix came up in my 'be careful' notes to myself. any thoughts? if it's fake, it gets demoted to 'gym bag'!!

I agree with DemRam, there should be a Logo lining. And Lexingtons were probably also made in the US although most of the ones I remember were from Italy or the Dominican Republic.

oh well, guess i got taken. presumably i must pay up, even though it's not authentic. thanks much, and next time i won't bid unless i know 100% what i'm getting.

NO!! There's no reason for you to pay $6.60 for a fake, much less $66!!

No, you needn't pay. Let the seller know that the bag has been deemed fake (and refer her here if necessary) and you don't intend to pay for a fake.

Let her know that she was obligated to authenticate and verify that her listing was authentic, something she clearly didn't do. Request that she cancel the transaction and dispose of the bag.

thank you so much for the advice. i have sent her an email, and will be curious to see if she can send me clear pics of the lining. i was so stuck on the questionable creed number that i didn't even think about the lining, since most of my bags are really 'vintage' with no lining at all!!

Could someone please authenticate this for me?

I agree with BeenBurned. You don't need to pay for a fake. Just send the seller here to this post and ask if the lining looks like this picture, which is slightly better than my original photo.

If the lining is flat black fabric without a slight sheen and without "Coach" woven into the fabric then it's NOT authentic.

I don't think the seller deliberately listed a fake, but it's important to get all bags authenticated if you don't know for sure, as in "you didn't buy it from Coach".

It appears to be an authentic "Metropolis Zip" from 1999.

Does it still have the detachable key fob that snaps to the inside back wall or has that disappeared?

It's a genuine Bucket Bag from the Lightweights line made in the late 1980s or early 1990s. There were two different sizes and I'm not sure which size this is.
